LOL - I've now known the last four owners of that AE71 and lined up two of the last three sales. I put Gregor in touch with the guy that sold it to him, and put that guy in touch with the previous owner.

And Andrew, I have ZERO interest in a GSXR (aside from an open wheeler with a GSXR engine). If all goes to plan, the next bike will be a Triumph Thruxton or Bonneville and will be within twelve months with any luck. Next on the agenda will be to bring my inherited motorbike up from Tassie, but I'll need to create an area to store it safely - it is 85 years old afterall.

Mmm, classic British coolness.

BTW, not this weekend with the V8's on, but how about we all meet up at Mindil Beach markets next Sunday or something? I know the couple that run the waffle & chiros stand, and am keen to go get some fresh waffles. Anyone up for a meet up and maybe a bit of a drive? Doesn't matter what car you bring, or even if you don't bring one - I've got three spare seats if anyone wants a lift (unless my bike parts turn up in time, in which case I'm riding the bike so I can enjoy the beautiful dry season weather).

Yeah - I used to like the Bonneville, but switched to the Thruxton. But the more I look at the Bonneville SE with the blue and white paint, the more I like it. It's like the BJ8 Austin Healey 3000 I like, but in a bike. 8/

Old man used to have a trumpy can't remember the model though

Then he had a TA22.

God I want a TA22 as a project car when I have the money/space/patience to accomodate

I had two TA22's once. :y: Now I've got $4,500 instead.

Got approved for my $40k loan today. Shocked the hell out of me. Shocked me even more when the bank said I was eligible for up to the full $50k personal loan. Dreams of SpeedSource turbo kits and brand new Triumphs started going through my head. But I'm resisting temptation (as usual) and just going the minimum so I can pay it off ASAP.

Got a cracked down pipe on the GT-Four, and I'm hoping it and the failed exhaust gasket are the cause of my lack of boost. $495 plus postage for a replacement from Aussie, and I've already got exhaust gasket material sitting in my house (thanks Luke!).

Yeah - divorce settlement sucks, but it's worth it. :y:

Got to check out the turbo on the GT-Four in case it's Mcf@$ked. If it is, a CT20b will NOT be getting put back on the car.

SpeedSource suck. They STILL haven't replied to my email. Plus Tim put me on to ATS who sell a GT28RS kit cheaper. Plus they're happy to talk about horsepower figures:

TD06 20G @ 17psi

Please note this is for an MR2, so they've installed 550cc injectors (off an ST205), retuned the ECU and installed a modified fuel rail to handle those injectors, upgraded the fuel pump (mine's already upgraded), and put in a different thermostat (not sure it's necessary on mine). They're saying they've had up to about 380hp at the flywheel with this setup on 17psi. My stock ECU can handle 17psi, so this seems a good way to go, but I'm concerned the TD06 20G would be too laggy on my car, as it's the turbo originally used on the 4G63, but they went down to the 16G because of the lag it had.

Anyway, I've emailed ATS to find out what they suggest, as I don't want lag, and I'm only aiming for around 400hp at the flywheel with a different turbo. Don't want to munch clutches, gearboxes, diff's or CV's - just need to be able to get up and boogie off the line quickly. Low to mid 13's would be nice too - just not sure how feasible it is.

BTW - just been looking up info on the TD06. On an MR2 page they've got some dyno results with TD06's on around 17psi (I don't want to change ECU's). As you can see there are three examples running around 17psi on a 3S-GTE with TD06, and ALL are making over 300hp AT THE WHEELS - MR2 Dyno Page. One has 341rwhp (17psi), 321hp (15.5psi), 315hp (17.5psi). Assuming a conservative 15% drivetrain loss on a mid-engined setup, that's an average from the three cars of around 407hp at the engine. Assuming a pessimistic 35% drivetrain loss on the GT-Four, that's 264hp at the wheels, or 197kW. I'd be happy with that. :bash:

Got word back from ATS. The guy I'm chatting with has said that the GT28RS will only make marginally more power than the CT20b, and will spool slightly faster. I actually still find that tempting.

However...

Their GT28RS kit is $1,850. Their GT3071 kit is $2,350. Why would I consider a GT30? Well, ATS have just finished an ST185, with their GT3071 kit, cams, and Power FC.

They made 340hp on 17psi.

At the wheels.

At ALL FOUR WHEELS!

The guy suggests that with the GT3071 kit, I'd only need to upgrade my exhaust to 3", but with the fuel pressure regulator I've already got and the ST205 water-to-air intercooler I'll be fine for that power level. I'd neglected to mention it already had the bigger exhaust, so I'm set. :bash: I wouldn't expect to make the same horsepower as the ST185, as I won't have different cams or the programmable ECU, but I wouldn't expect to be a long way off. Hell, 300hp (225kW) at all four wheels is MORE than enough in my book. Assuming a 35% drivetrain loss, that's 460hp at the engine for about $5,000. :D :) :P
