Chobis Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Hey charl, firstly great project. Keep up the good work. I think people need to remember that not everyone has the same amount of money to spend when doing up a car. As much as it is not rare now to have a flat black car, it is still good fun and always turns heads. I had a flat black Sunny for a while with red rims and whitewalls and it was a bunch of fun for the total outlay of $415 which included the purchase of the car, paint, material to do some backyard retrimming, whitewalls etc etc. Anyway.. I digress............ Whitewalls........ you have two options.......... You can buy the 13inch flapper rubber inserts for $120 for a set of four from John at Antique Motor Spares in Wingfield. His number is 8268 5540. Here's some I had done: Or.... Get hold of Derel from Whitewalls SA on 0427 715380. He will come to you and for just $80 he will do half inch or three quarter inch walls in many varied colours (white is most popular of course). For $120 he can do double walls like I had done: Quote
charl Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 WOW! thanks for the oh-so accurate information i really appreciate it! i think the top ones are what I'm after as theyre alot thicker!! I'm just wondering... do you just stick them to your original tyres or do you have to take them to that guy to do it? i think ill give him a ring tomorrow. thanks again Chobis. Charl Quote
charl Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 Update!!!! Wheels with the newly painted centre caps, (thanks honey!) just aching for those whitewalls!! a close up shot of my mirrors, i think theyre awesome!! Quote
charl Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 I'm excited, today i start trimming the interior! probably take me most of the weekend but seeing as i work for holdens, and they gave everyone monday off, i have ample time!! The original trims were all missing so i found these at u-pull it in lonsdale a while ago. out of a red ke25 i think. so needless to say they don't fit exactly and thats why i had to modify them, but then i decided to use them as a template and make all new trims from scratch!! after i destroyed them by pulling them apart, (don't get angry, theyre only trims!) Quote
charl Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 and heres the mdf i will be using for the trim base. these were the "super special awesome" door trims i got with the car for the front doors..... needless to say, start from scratch once again!! mdf for the base trim again Quote
