Super Jamie Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 we're serious. if you've ever driven a car with decent brakes you'd agree too. as stupid looking as they are, the brakes on a citroen berlingo are some of the nicest stoppers i've ever used, they must be huge Quote
Medicine_Man Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 It can also f@$k your pressure plate, dad did it once and turned all the fins inside out.. I resent that statement... Â 4 weeks after he "demonstrated" a "light" compression lockup, I did that one on the gold coast highway remember?! Â 5th gear back to 2nd from 100kph in a low geared ute - cause I thought it was first (Hey I was on my learners :P ) Â Smokin :) that was probably on a fresher clutch though, he had to replace it after he turned it inside out.. demuire Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Engine braking on a RWD car only brakes the rear wheels. Front wheels stop the car so much better... Quote

Teddy Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 Any one want a horror story relevant to this topic? Â Family going camping up at whop whop, mum and i came up afterwards in new 2002 hyuindi exel - 5 speed manual. Â Anway, mum took wrong turn off, did a u-ie and started speeding off in correct direction. Speed limit was 100, mum was doing about that... in 5th. Bad sinage in area.. anway turnup came up unexpectedly quick, mum applys foot break hardish, and was still geting use to gearbox, completly misses 4th, and puts into 2nd and lets cluch out too fast - i don't think ive ever seen / listend to a exel do that sort of revs, not to metion how close my nose went to touching the dashboard. Must of been doing about 85 ish when 2nd was selected. can't be good for a car with under 5,000 on the clock at the time :P Â Bahaha Quote

Teddy Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 was that when i was in the car? Â love the celica :P Quote
irokin Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 yea it was. well 8000rpm is where the tacho stops so....how high it truely went we don't know. Even at those RPM I didnt hear any valve float or bounce. Thank god for forged cranks. Quote
Super Jamie Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 realistically, a piston or rod or rod bolt is going to give way long before a crank Quote
mumblezzz Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 I've downshifted from the high end of 4th into 3rd in my mates CA silvia while braking hard for a corner. The tacho went well into the 8000 range. Lucky my mate the owner was drunk at the time. He thought it was cool. Quote

Teddy Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 wonder what revs the accent (not exell sorry) was doing @ 2nd gear @ 85 k's ... wanst anything short of "made in china" anway... Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 hehe years ago when i had my ae92 levin i was "seeing what it can do" i dunno how i did it but i was redlinnng in fourth, and instead of selecting 5th got 3rd...... lucky i didnt let the clutch all the way out, or if i did only for a fraction of a second, it was like nailing the brakes... and the engine screamed!! :P Quote
Super Jamie Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 e36 m3s had this problem where the gearbox mounts would twist under load, alot of people went to pick 5th (going flat out) and instead got 3rd. quite a few engines were replaced under warranty with pistons through the top of them Quote
