Jason Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 I know that oil and water have to be electrical or mount them out side the cabin. But what about boost gauge? I mean its just air? OR are people really annal about that stuff? Quote
Felix Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 should be fine. it will just be filtered compressed air.......unless you are running a drawthru carb setup. Quote
Jason Posted January 8, 2005 Author Report Posted January 8, 2005 (edited) Ahhhhh that sucks that just have to make every thing difficult Just looked on ebay they don't have any any more  Edited January 8, 2005 by Jason Quote
Jason Posted January 8, 2005 Author Report Posted January 8, 2005 yah i was always planning to  just cheked ebay if there any cheap ones "Can i see your boost gauge...." "Hmmmm no. You can have a look at my oil temp" Quote
Super Jamie Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 how are you sposed to put a vac gauge in the cabin then? do all factory turbo cars have an electronic boost gauge in the dash? Quote
Jason Posted January 8, 2005 Author Report Posted January 8, 2005 as far as i know (which is very little) no, you tap a point were there is boost and run a hose. Quote
Super Jamie Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 if i had a turbo car, considering the price of an avcr, i'd just have a tap in the engine bay. that's how just about everyone down here does it these days. couple of guys are running round with apexi/greddy ebcs Quote
irokin Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 I mean its just air? well....no its not just air. Depending on the car there could be oil, fuel etc etc but with most cars there will be oil. Incabin boost controllers are worse than boost gauges. Most incabin boost controllers bleed the air off the waste gate line, which means youve got fumes coming into the cabin. Big no no. I also think its a saftey thing. Think, A boost gauge/boost controller line will have flamable gases/liquids. If theres a fire in the engine bay then the firewalls not going to be able to work as effectively because theres a nice little trail for the flames to come through. Quote
mumblezzz Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Just mount it into the dash so A. It looks nice and B. Keeps Mr Plod happy. In cabin boost controllers seem to be a big nono but guages seem to be fine if they're mounted in the right position. Quote
irokin Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 GReddy sell electronic gauges  They have peek recall which is very handy. Quote
Super Jamie Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 In cabin boost controllers seem to be a big nono but guages seem to be fine if they're mounted in the right position. if you've got a mechanical oil pressure gauge then chances are you're going to get done for it if your car gets anything more than a casual lookover by the feds. it's pretty hard to hide an oil line going into the cabin Quote
Jason Posted January 9, 2005 Author Report Posted January 9, 2005 I don't really like the idea of having high pressure and high temp. oil/water facing me either + there cheap so eh Quote
demuire Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 You can be like what Nick used to have, with little copper lines going through the firewall and kinda floating around in the passenger footwell... Quote
Super Jamie Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 i thought of that too  Quote
