Doogs Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Great work on Johno, good news on the paint. :y: In my opinion the Platinum is best. When you are using wet and dry keep the bucket of water right next to where you are sanding and dip the block in regularly. I have found the water not only cleans the crap off, but it also keeps the panel somewhat lubed up for nice smooth sanding. Quote
Johno Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 Bought an air compressor today so i can blow all the crap out of the pannels like leaves, dead bugs and dust. Ohh oh and i can start doing some priming on the beast too  Quote
JiP Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 WoW, I haven't seen this thread in a while. The cars coming across real nicely. Quote

Johno Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) Got some more goodies for the rolla... Etch primer, thinners, AND... Spray gun! The guy I bought the stuff off was really helpfull and he threw in for free, scotchbrite, mixing cups and stiring sticks. Also, I got free was spare spray tips and attatchments for the air hose and a stand for the gun so I can hang it on the wall to top up paint or whatever. First things first, finish sanding, filling, rust converting, masking up and cleaning. Edited September 25, 2008 by Johno Quote

Johno Posted September 29, 2008 Author Report Posted September 29, 2008 Yeah, security system is running now. Tonights progress pics.. Tried to strip the bonnet by sanding it but didn't get too far before I said stuff it, I'm going paint stripper. This is why I'm stripping it back, all the bonnet has got little spots of rust. Quote
78_7kRolla Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Making excellent progress mate, you definitely have to go with the platinum would look shmick! Quote
Johno Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 Thanks for all the comments guys, I'm still unsure of what colour to do just yet. I like platinum too but i'm sorta going towards another colour, a metalalic beige off the BA- BF falcon colour range. I really like tiger orange on the VT SS commodore but my mate just bought one so now i can't have that! Its a real in your face hot colour for a corolla. To tell you the truth i'm so over picking colours so i'm going to leave it till i'm ready to paint the final clour coats Ps, i'm high as a kite from Mulit perpose thinners so if i don't mak sense you know why.. lol! Johno Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 (edited) Finished prepping the bonnet, Got the last of the rust spots out by using a scotch-brite and multi purpose thinners to remove the last of it. Before... After... Edited September 30, 2008 by Johno Quote
