with the engine swap you need to find someone that is not familiar with corollas. because as far as they know a 4a is a 4a. i also think there is a clause in the vic roads rwc thing that says it's all ok if it was offered as an option at the time of sale. don't quote me on that one but my tester didn't even blink when i want from a 3k to a 4k. it may also help to have it look standard, so hold off on the itb kit and extractors till after you get the engine number changed.

But the car was also optioned as a 4age.

Put up the carport/garage.

Still working on it, turning it from a portable tent to a semi permanent structure.

Cleared a big space and set everything out flat

Walls are all on now, Found some old fluro lights in the shed but some tubes and starters were blown so after about 1 hour hunting around i found (borrowed)

some tubes from the main shed, all working now just have to attach them to the roof some how :hmm:

I also bought some 20x20x3mm angle steel. I Will be using that to brace the frame but didn't have time to attach that either.

At least now I got a garage :) :no2:

Cheers Johno. ;)

one of my mates had one of those and it degraded and got brittle in the sun after about 9 months

and ahahahah it didn’t fair well with that cyclone that neely got us at the start of the year

probably best to throw another tarp over it

^ I'll keep that in mind, thanks :hmm:

Daily update.. he he

The garage is almost done... :sob: Cut the steel bracing to size but couldn't bolt it on because I didn't have the right drill bits.

I only got about an hour of light left when I get home after work so progress is very limited..

Lights are now fitted and working wicked.

hey dude your a poet and you didnt even know it :sob:

looks pretty good and yes you will find that those thing fall apart very quickly

supershit (cheap) stuff is exactly that supershit. that is why i would never shop there.

start saving to get a better cover for it and it will last a lot longer

get one made up out of a better tarp.

Took a big trip all the way up to Albury on Sunday (nearly 800kms there and back :P ) Cost me nearly 200 bucks in fuel for the falcon with my heavy right foot.. Checked out the 4age engine, goes nice and i decided I'm going to buy it.

The owner has to get his other car on the road before he can pull the 4age out of his seca so I will get my hands on it in about a month or so.

can't wait.... he he

I been thinking about the paint job for the rolla and i was thinking of paying a pro to paint it.

It would look heaps better if they did it and really shiny. I got a few quotes today. Told them i was pulling the engine, gearbox, dash, seats, carpet, all interior plastic out so pretty much a rolling car on a trailer with nothing but doors and windows.

How much??

1st place.... Nah mate, don't want to know about it. Cars too old.

2nd place... Mate, it sounds like you want a full restoration job, not interested, don't do restro's.

3rd place... look, as a rough estimate, between $4000 - $5500 but i don't think its worth doing on a old car like this

4th place... $599 respray, plus this and that, $4965 total, $250 extra if i want metallic. "When can ya bring it in" they said.

This pretty much scared the S#*t out of me and i'm not paying 5000 grand for a paint job.

Edit : I was hoping it would be about $1500 - $2000 for a paint job :D
