Will be A LOT of work to fit a TRD cam shaft:

post-1811-1207387342_thumb.jpg

Stock cam on left TRD cam on right. Notice the bearings for a TRD cam are HUGE and the lobes are longer. Will need to bore out bearing area of cam and fit larger bearings if you get that cam.

Or just get a stock cam regrind it to what suits your car and done..lol Much cheaper.

Like this picture shows..

For what it is worth, You would be better off getting a standard cam reground to spec as we have better technology these days when it comes to cam profiling..

damn that would be a noisey setup!

I know some people would be horried by the sujestion but in concept couldnt you give the cam to a lathe grinder and take the bearing size down to stock?

why do you think they did it anyway? to reduce head wear?

TRD gear drive system is an off the shelf can buy option Taz that isn't custom.

Also TRD 3K I believe can bounce around the 10,000 to 11,000 RPM mark. At 11,000 RPM cam is doing 5500 RPM stock cam only should go to 3150 RPM so I guess they run bigger bearings to help with load more oil film around it and surface area for oil to work on. And the trust face is bigger so I dare say the gear system put extra axial load on the cam shaft.

You could grind it down to size no worries. But I think with a reground cam you can get a way better cam profile and keep the TRD one for a collectors item hang on the wall..lol

Also the TRD 3K had 150 HP and bigger valve springs so I would also hint the extra valve spring load might of made them run bigger bearings.
