KE ping it real Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 hey mate you gonna be painting the bay yourself? Hey Luc Me and a couple of other helpful hands are going to do the prep and priming but seeing as the colour i chose is metallic, i will probably enlist the help of a pro to actually spray Unless Mick is feeling up to the challenge? Quote

Yeah the body will be pro sprayed when i save up the coin and get to that stage on the list And the colour is only available in acrylic unfortunatly, I would have preferred 2 pak Quote

So you can put a 2pak clear over an acrylic? i got told you couldn't but the guy wasn't too sure Quote
trav_555 Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 don't believe what some people say, i got told to put an acrylic hardener over my enamel paint aye, idiot haha, but yea you spray a crear hardener over it and she is solid as bruh, 2 pac you will find is extremely toxic i think you will find and you need like a full body suit or something like that to paint it. but yea do it yourself, sprayed my entire car with spray cans and it turned out great even though i did absolutely 0 prep, if i did it would have been perfect, i used the cheapest of cheap cans from bunnings haha, i don't recconmend it though unless you want to spend extra prep time and don't want a mad finish like you get with acrylic. greenmac80 Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 So you can put a 2pak clear over an acrylic? i got told you couldn't but the guy wasn't too sure definately! my car is an acrylic basecoat with a dupont oe8000 2pac clear coat! the basecoat coulour being acrylic makes it really easy to put on! once that is perfect put about 3 coats of clear! buff and it'll perfection! glassy mirror type finish! alot easier than tyrying to use 2pac for the colour straight up! KE ping it real Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 Yeah i'm pretty much going for a nice clean streeter (a couple of pegs below show car) so i definatly wont be spraying the body myself I know you have to put a clear over the acrylic and if i can put a 2 pak clear on then it will be much stronger, however i want to be sure the 2 pak thing can be done before we do it Cheers - Andrew Quote
