KE ping it real Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 (edited) Didn't you think you got it a bit cheap??? They're Chinese made turbos buddy, I'll leave it at that. Yeah i knew it was cheap but i figured i'll only be running at low boost and thought it would handle it ok I would have shelled out a bit more if i was going to run 15 pound or something but i'm only looking to run 8psi Oh well, I've bought it now so i guess i'll run it till it f@$ks up and then get a new/better one China is close to japan.......LOL Edited August 14, 2008 by KE ping it real Quote
Taz_Rx Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 (edited) Yeah fair enough. I'm not going to go about bagging the crap out of them as I've had no personal experience, but they don't have the greatest reputation. Not so much how hard you run them, just general reliability. That "Garrett" cast into the compressor cover goes a long way sometimes. ;) Edited August 14, 2008 by Taz_Rx Quote

doityourself Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Did you get that from JVerban user on Ebay? if so be careful of his products. I bought a KE30 from him and lets just say that after 2 weeks its not so good. Whilst it looks the goods be wary of the quality. BTW love to KE35, looking at your makes me remember how much I miss my old Trimatic 35. Quote

KE ping it real Posted September 15, 2008 Author Report Posted September 15, 2008 Well i haven't updated for a little while and after going to the Radrollaz cruise yesterday i'm all pumped about getting the thing on the road as soon as possible I finally got the 4k out a few weeks ago and its gone to its new home in Coffs (Enjoy Trav) and i am now going to start work on prepping the engine bay After taking out the battery, i discovered a nice rust patch underneath soooo i'll have to cut that out and then clean up the bay for a good degrease (as you can tell it's in need LOL) I'll also spray the engine bay satin black and fit the clutch master cylinder I should be getting my engine mounts soon (thanks to Blackrolla80 :y: ) so then i can really get to work :y: I've also posted a couple of pics of things i got in the last few weeks - My microtech & hand controller, My loom (looks very farkin scary) and my surge tank I also got my AE71 radiator heavy duty twin cored and my 4agze CAS & injectors (Thanks Jono :) ) but i'll post pics of them later Anyway enough talk and a few pics, I'll post some more when i get some progress next weekend Quote
radrollaz Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Looking good Andrew, can't wait to see it all done. Hey how are you going to spray your engine bay? I'm keen to help if you want ill hook up a compressor and i have a spray gun and we can do it in a day. I sprayed my engine bay in my garage and it turned out pretty good. All up cost me $200 for materials and prep time. :y: Quote

Maybe that's not a bad idea, I'm always very grateful for help especially someone with an engine bay that looks like yours :y: I'll have to remove as much shit out of the bay as i can (washer bottle, overflow e.t.c) but i think i'll leave the brake stuff and the wiring alone so i don't buggar it up :) I was thinking about cutting out that rust with a grinder, a neat square and then riveting a thin gal plate over it so i can re-open it later after engineering for a cold air intake or something as long as it doesn't take away any structural integrity. I don't know, let me know what you think Quote

cuzzo Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 dude on toymods there is a hopper stopper kit for sale to suit a corona strut. Its dirt cheap. Are you on there? Heres the link http://toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=40973 and heres the info. Complete Hoppers Stoppers brake kit to suit RA23 strut. Has seen less than 5000km use since brand new on my Corolla, have to sell to get another custom set made for my new rims Kit includes custom billet hubs (4x114.3 PCD), slotted rotors, alloy calipers (powdercoated black), Lucas 650 degree pads, custom hoses, and all hardware required to fit to your strut. 15" wheels are required for this package. This kit does not alter your track or camber from standard. Cost $1,300 will sell for $900, my loss is your gain....... From Hoppers catalogue below: Make me a reasonable offer, I have to shift these more urgently now due to an unforseen family incident. Will consider building up a pair of shortened coilover RA23 struts at a good price if it helps the prospective buyer. Can also split the parts listed in the post above, for example, if you just wanted the custom billet hubs & discs but want to adapt your own caliper. Cheers Phil Quote
radrollaz Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Hey Andrew, i would wait a little for the brake side of things even though its a little cheaper as i have had the problem of having coilovers that bottom out because the struts have not been cut down 8/ . I had my celica RA60 struts cut down by at least 2inches and then fitted with a coil over kit allowing the shock to still have travel when the car has been lowerd . The hopper stopper kit is a great idea and I'm shore Wade from the south coast with the White SR'd KE55 can vouch for that but you might only need the hubs, disks, calipers and caliper brakets so wait a little and we can look at your options . Cuzzo has gone through the hole process as well and I'm shore he could give you some advice if you wanted to go 4 piston Hilux caliper conversion. :) There are so many different combo's when it comes to brakes, so lets get that engine bay done and then we can talk about the brakes while we fit the motor :) Edited October 6, 2008 by radrollaz Quote
KE ping it real Posted October 6, 2008 Author Report Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Hey Cuzzo Unfortunatly i'm not on Toymods yet (maybe i should be though) Thanks for thinking of me but i don't have a spare $900 ATM for the brakes and like Radrollaz said after you, I'm probably better off getting the corolla ones down the track. But thanks anyway man :) Don't worry Mick, I haven't lost focus of where we're at mate  I've got a shitload of things to do before i get to that stage and number 1 is finish the engine bay The Radrollaz crew (Huge thanks to Mick & Marty 8/   ) came around and helped me to get a start by cutting out the rust under my battery and re-welding a plate and welding up the useless holes in the engine bay Today i stripped out the brake booster and some of the rear brake lines. I also took off all the firewall plates and bonnet hinges and removed the speedo cable This week i have to remove the complete dash, Take out all the wiring, Remove the fuel line, Remove the front 1/4 panels, the front brake lines and grind a couple of little things that wont be used in the engine bay Then i have to go over the whole bay with a wire wheel and sand paper to get her ready for filler and then Hyfill I'll post some pics up after next weekend when it's pretty much ready for the next stages of prep Cheers - Andrew :) Edited October 6, 2008 by KE ping it real Quote
radrollaz Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Happy to help :) Go hard on that engine bay mate, as ill be coming round in the next few weeks to lay down some filler in that engine bay. :) Quote
