toyota_ae71 Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 gday went to the swapmeet in broadford today and picked up 2 dirt cheap rims in very good condition but after they got a good clean i found this strange marking on the outer rim! does anyone know what it means?? Quote
7shades Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 JIS Means they're made in Japan, and conform to their quality standards Quote
irokin Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Its actually JIL and stands for Japanese Institute of Labour and basically means an approval for the rims sale in Japan. The JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) logo looked like this (Its being changed later this year): http://alloy-artifacts.com/Photos/tools/jis_logo.jpg Quote
Gavclassic Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 The wheels are directional, they fit left side only?!?!?!?! :nervous: Will cause vehicle to oversteer uncontrolably if fitted incorectly! Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted March 31, 2008 Author Report Posted March 31, 2008 SAY what! i bought them for the back to put mud n snows on what do you mean there directional Quote
tas_ae71 Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 i think gav means directional tyres... yes they should be put on the correct side, if you have only a pair of the same tyres both for the left side than you should get one of the tyres taken off and flipped around so its compatible because it would give you less grip on one side than the other which isnt the best unless you where drifting in one direction.. camerondownunder88 Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 They are like celica or tarago rims. AE86 ones are SIMILAR but have a different center cap etc and are slightly different. Look in my for sale thread about same rims I have a complete set of AE86 rims and there are pics in there. Just cantfind same pic to post here that is all if you want a reference. Cameron Quote
