mitch4397 Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 your actually the luckiest man alive. :P the attention to detail on this thing is just amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :S Quote
Felix Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 That is one sweet little car you have there Gav. Excellent work. I love the way you have used period style mods. The only thing I'd do differently is put a front bumper on it, or better still make up or adapt some bumperettes off an escort or something. What rims are they, Mazda? Think I've seen some in a wreckers somewhere. They suit it really well. Quote
Jono Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 how are you allowed historic rego with an engine conversion like that? Quote
Gavclassic Posted June 30, 2008 Author Report Posted June 30, 2008 Gav, got any better pics of the seats, and what are they from? Cheers. Drivers seat is actually RS2000 but with no headrest, rest of the seats are standard SL Sprinter. Quote
Gavclassic Posted June 30, 2008 Author Report Posted June 30, 2008 Hi Gav, Now that is what I want my KE15 to look like one day....... But as for the interior can I get a few pics of how you cut the center console for the gear shifter to go through further back than stock. Id like a 5 speed in my KE15 but don't want the hole to become a mess or lose my center console. Also that aluminum plate thing besides your clutch pedal on the side of the trans tunnel is that to stop carpet wear was it after market new etc? Very interested in this parts history./ Cheers Cameron You can see in this pic where i used a hole saw to make the hole in the console, that thing next to the cluth peddle is a drivers footrest, very handy when racing!. This item was made by the same guys that did the rest of the work on the car. Quote

Think I've seen some in a wreckers somewhere. They suit it really well. I've always loved that old race car look, especially on Alfa and Triumph running with no front bar. I actually have plans for some spotlight brackes to come out through the original bar brackets with spotlights fitted, a bit MK 1 RS2000 rally Escort. Basically just wanted to bit a bit different. As for the wheels, i found them it the boot of a KE10 i dragged out of a swamp. They're a German brand Ronal, had to get them fully restored, blasted, powdercoted, machined and new inserts. Have seen some on cars in some Classic Jap Mags but none actually in Australia. Thought i'd through in another engine bay shot, now with air filters and you can see the sump in this one! Quote

parrot Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) I can't believe I've never noticed this thread before. That really is a quality job. Also can't believe there hasn't been a post in a year and a half! Those shiny strut covers, were they new old stock or did you get them re done somewhere? If re done, what did they do. I've not had things plated before and need to learn the drill. Edited December 9, 2009 by parrot Quote
