irokin Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Some of you might be aware that Lakeside raceway is opening up for racing again (If you're not http://www.lakesideraceway.com). Some of you will also be aware that there will be noise restrictions, specifically 92dB. Sounds pretty lenient (with the road legal volume 93dB in QLD at least) however its not tested the same as QLD Police or QLD Dept. of Transport. The test is done from 5 meters directly behind the car with the car revving at 5,000rpm for 5 seconds. I consider my car to be one of the quieter racers at track days and I registered 90dB which surprised me. My mates R32 GTR which sits probably middle of the range compared to other cars registered 98dB. So if you intend to race at Lakeside make sure you have the car tested before hand so you don't get booted out on the day. Quote
Des Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 WOOHOO to another track reopening. My ae82 should be sweet, Has a nice note but its relatively quiet. Quote
love ke70 Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 i think I'm gonna be f@$ked, especially with the bigger turbo :D I'm excited though, maybe ill pass, can't wait to get out on a track, any track, and then lakeside :hmm: Quote
Redwarf Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 (edited) Nasty. In general these days, most of the tracks I visit want 95dB. The Island used to be 98 I think........ (Can't quite remember. Been awhile..) Edited March 25, 2008 by Redwarf Quote
Des Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 My engine ticks louder at 5,000 rpm than the exhaust is. Do they test it before you go or test if the suspect it to be too loud ? Quote
Raven Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 I WISH Adelaide International Raceway would open the f**k up already. Bob Jane is a prick! Quote
fusion Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Raven heard of the new motorsport park that is planned to open in Port Adelaide. Stage 1 begins in 3 months at a cost of $25 million :D Quote

Do they test it before you go or test if the suspect it to be too loud ? brings back 1g memories hahaha. i guess at an unloaded 5000 rpm it wouldnt be as loud as we normally experience when flat footing it at 5K Quote
PHATKE20S Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 :D At Least they have opened the track up With a noise restriction that low not many people should hear the cars Which means hopefully no complaints from surrounding areas.......... And the track might Stay open................... Quote

Everyone gets tested. I should mention I'm racing there on the 5th of April with the Time Attack guys :D. Had a bit of a test session at QR today, few things to sort out but a busted intercooler hose put an early end to my day. Quote
Des Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Take some pictures for me or sticky tape a video camera to ya dash board. Quote
7shades Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Closest thing I've got to a track up here is an old airfield. I'd gladly whack a dozen mufflers on If it meant I had somewhere I could go :D Quote
irokin Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 does it cost to spectate? I'm not even sure if we're allowed spectators! The whole track hasn't been 2008 liability proofed yet as far as I know so I'm reluctant to invite people to come have a look. Closest thing I've got to a track up here is an old airfield. I'd gladly whack a dozen mufflers on If it meant I had somewhere I could go :D Don't get me wrong I've got no problems with noise limits, I was just surprised at how quiet (ok not THAT quiet) 92dB is for these regs. It certainly caught a few people out today! Quote
Taz_Rx Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 (edited) does it cost to spectate? 2 words..... PIT CREW! :hmm: :D Edited March 27, 2008 by Taz_Rx Quote
