ke20 king Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 i was just wondering what type of brake boosters will fit up onto a ke20 I'm putting a 4age in it soon I'm just wondering what people have used with out doing much mods and where it will leave enough room for the hydrulic clutch... ive heard ke35 or ke55 boosters are good and they bolt on just wondering if thats true.. also if anyone has a booster with the master cylinder for sale I'm in nsw and let me know cheers james. Jono Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 what 4age are you putting in? i have three mates with 4ages in ke20's and we all have used remote brake boosters due to the lack of room near the inlet manifold. i'm using an rx7 brake master cylinder with remote reserviours from an integra. i'm using a clutch master cylinder from an NG pajero (nice and short). fusion Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 You wouldn't be able to take some time out and post a picture or two showing what you have done could you Jono? I got problems with twin 3TC Webers ram tubes hitting the brake booster. Quote

I got problems with twin 3TC Webers ram tubes hitting the brake booster. Actually this could turn into quite a topic, I'm pretty keen to run a remote booster to allow a free choice of air box and stack options on my 20 valve. Pics would be great Jono. Quote
Jono Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 (edited) this is a pic i have on my computer. i'll take some pics with more detail of the master cylinder later. you can just see the remote reserviours if you look closely. basically you can mount the booster anywhere, i just put it where the battery used to be. Jono Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 engine bay looks a lot tidier these days. remember james, you should either weld in a plate or bolt in a plate for the clutch master cylinder or your firewall will flex. make sure you position the clutch master cylinder so you can attach the clevis to the pedal easily. ke20 king Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 you got me confused thats some big mods there what do you mean by remote sensor so r your telling me i can't put a booster there on the firewall coz it wont me enough room for the inlet. and how will the firewall flex? Quote
Jono Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 the gearbox you will use will be hydraulic and the car uses cable for clutch originally so you need to mount a clutch master cylinder, pushing the clutch pedal causes the firewall to flex unless its reinforced. use a remote booster as you won't fit a booster on the firewall with the inlet manifold. only worth doing if you plan on spending the money to get it engineered as they will want to see a brake booster. if you plan on getting in engineered then you need to do the conversion properly. i'll stop by your work and show you a few things on my car when its back on the road soon. poodle Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 hey jono.. do u recon u could please post up a pic of how you have done your clutch pedal in side your car? cheers Quote
Jono Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 no problem, i'll take put a pic up soon as i can. Quote
Davros El Davros Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Yeah I would be keen to see how your clutch pedal is set up too bro. I am in the process of designing how mine will work, so any ideas would be great... Plus here is a pic of a remote booster setup I found - booster can basically be fitted anywhere there is room. I am planning to put my remote booster under the front guard if there is no room in the engine bay... Quote
Gilly Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 i'm the same boat as Matt, i would like to run longer velocity stacks on my 20v. from a booster point of view i'm right as i have found a smaller item that frees up some space. i am keen to see this shorter clutch master cylinder though (NG pajero) as it too fouls my stacks Quote
Jono Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 i forgot to take my camera to where my car is today. sorry guys. have to be early next week i hope. Davros, a mate of mine has a 12a in his ke20 and he put the booster in the front guard. its a little tight and he has had to wind the caster right in to fit it (which isn't so good) Quote
Sim Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 i also wuld like to know what would be the best brake booster/master cylinder option for my ke26? its running a 13bt which was still running the standard ke26 master cylinder when i got the car. its now running s4 rx7 brakes at the front and will have standard hilux drums at the rear. what would be a good option for me? i haven't got any clear pictures when the motor was still in of the space where the master cylinder was to show. Jono Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 sorry for the crap pic, i got a new phone but didn't use the right settings on the camera and instead of a nice 2mp image it is too small. anyway it shows the NG pajero clutch master cylinder, nice and short and the S6 RX7 brake master cylinder, with the remote reserviours from a DC2 integra.
