Phat535 Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 my auto electric skills are more than just a little bit rusty having a problem with the AE71, the coil isn't producing any spark trying replacing it with the same problem so I'm assuming it's in the wiring pre coil rather than stuffing around pulling the loom apart and trying to find the fault I'd like to just re-wire up the new coil independant of the original loom can anyone tell me everything that needs to be wired up to the coil and which terminal it should come from (+) or (-) thanks in advance Dave Quote
Medicine_Man Posted December 27, 2004 Report Posted December 27, 2004 Check your points, I had my car do the same thing (4K though), the lobe work off the points and it wasn't opening the points when the dizzy cam came round to open them. if thats whats happened, make sure you grease the dizzy cam, helps prevent the points lobe from wearing down. Hope this is of some assistance. Quote
Super Jamie Posted December 28, 2004 Report Posted December 28, 2004 you need a multimeter, that will tell you if your wiring is f@$ked and if you're getting earth after the coil. they'll be on special at supercheap for 10 bucks, definately no more than 15 Quote
Phat535 Posted December 28, 2004 Author Report Posted December 28, 2004 superjamie : as I said I'd already bought a new coil and tryed it and I know how to use a multimeter I just wanted to know a basic diagram for wiring one completely independant of the original loom but the motor ended up having more wrong with it than I thought when I actually got a few spare minutes to check it out so I'm just going to buy Teddy's spare motor and throw that in Quote
