KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 (edited) Well i have had this AE71 Since january 2006 and not alot has happened with it. It was bought for me to use in motorkhana's and khanacross's. Bought it with a rooted diff and a complete auto ae71 with it for the use of its diff. So in the time i have had them i have...Changed diffs over, stripped the parts car for useful pieces and sent it off to rolla heaven, Stripped un needed interior bits out of it to make it uber lightweight, sound deadener removed. I have also made a sidepipe out of the spare stock exhaust pipe. Sounds beefy but has a nasty back off sound above 4,500RPM. Wants some back pressure. I acquired a 4age requiring a rebuild (cost me a few parts off my parts car) and have gotten as far as pulling the head and sump off it. Doesnt look the best inside but it should be ok once its all done. Still need lots of parts for it but am still deciding injection or carbs. So depending what i choose determines what other parts i need. I will deal with it when i get to it. So far the only event i have been in is a supersprint. Managed a 72.47 second run. Thats from the bottom of the dip in conrod straight to the start/ finish line on mt panorama. Not too bad considering i was in a stock ae71. First run i blew the radiator...Parts car to the rescue. From then on problem free. 155km/h is the fastest i got it before i had to brake for the chase. At that speed all the spiders, dust, leaves etc all came out of the air vents. After this event it was parked up at my mates place as he has a paddock i was going to use to drive in to get used to the car a bit. But since i never really had much time to go up there to drive it so the pumpkins took my car hostage...until yesterday wnen i started it and took it out to see how it was keeping. Paints f@$ked, Runs a little bit hot, needed some fuel down the carby to get it to run, Coughed and spluttered ALOT after a little run around the paddock. But I'm not overly worried. Before next race it will be getting a full export paint job (25% off (staff discount ftw) at supercrap helps) And topped off with a septone clear coat over the top. At the moment it has a black bonnet and boot with white body. might give it some racing stripes, white on the bonnet and boot, black over the roof. For something different. Ah thats all i can think of so ill post some pictures and that should do. Once i had done a little bit to it. In Event Part Car on way to heaven 4AGE Apart AE71 at Mates Place (Taken Over By Pumpkins) And Lastly its final resting place at this date with my mates other cars What Do You Guys think of my shitter? Cheers Jake Edited March 17, 2008 by KE70-from-mt-panorama Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 That's my sort of car! just switch the AE bit for KE and 71 for 70 and they just the same....... besides the running gear....... *Note to self, get another car, build it for motorkhana stuff, hide it from the handbrake.......yeah* Overall, I like, but you can still strip heaps of weight out of it yet (and still have it looking like a car). Keep it up! :hmm: Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted March 17, 2008 Author Report Posted March 17, 2008 plant = + 10 hose power :hmm: Well I'm in luck i think i left a bit of it that got between the car and the gearbox. Woo Hoo 10hp Yes much work to be done in the weight reduction side. It has less than what the pictures show though, It all came out before the race. I decided to do some more to the 4age tonight aswell. Took the big ends off, but it was dark by then and i was hungry so i came inside. Probably Tomorrow i will pull off the crank and pistons so I'm left with all the individual bits to start cleaning them off and finding whats f@$ked and whats not and just have a look at it all. (First time i have pulled an engine completely apart so its still a learning curve for me) Cheers Quote
HRV-00S Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Hay, good stuff mate Getting in and doing it is the only way to learn, just make sure you keep all the important bit's it the correct order they came out in. Anyway good luck with it mate. Love the race car too mate, might bring mine out for a spin if It stays with me. Getting more motivated each day too persist with it. Cheers Dan Quote

Kid-Ae Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 How light are you aiming for this car to be? not too light i hope cause ive seen these bloody things roll when their stripped barer than a bum on a noodie beach. Keep it up though, would love to see this thing racing around :sob: Quote
Mybowlcut Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 At that speed all the spiders, dust, leaves etc all came out of the air vents. KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted March 18, 2008 Author Report Posted March 18, 2008 It wont be extremely light. I will be taking out the carpet, rest of sound deadener, and anything else thats useless to be on the car. I wont be going fibreglass panels or anything. Should be ok but i don't want to roll it. Its a shitter but its my shitter Quote
Kid-Ae Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 nice. thats the way to go. btw any foreign objects in the engine bay is +5kw but cause yours is edible thats +15kw at least :sob: i intend to fill my engine bay with useless junk and dyno it :no2: Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted March 18, 2008 Author Report Posted March 18, 2008 that definately sounds like a good idea. interesting to see the results of that Quote
Kid-Ae Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 put 30 foriegn objects in @ 10kw a pop.. hehehe 300rwkw ftw? lol how often will you be racing this car of yours? Quote
sixsixone Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 What a waste, right now i'm looking for a slanted front KE70, just so happens some people leave them in their yard! GRRR! Lol. Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted March 18, 2008 Author Report Posted March 18, 2008 just at local events that are on flat track or downhill track, for the hillclimbs i will use my st162 celica. 3sge pulls a little bit harder than 4a-c BUT...if i do put all those foriegn objects under the bonnet i think it should go faster than the celica...decisions so basically i will be racing it once every month or so, maybe every 2nd month. but once i finish the 4age i might spread to some other events like track days etc. Quote
