reg_ke35 Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Hey guys, Dunno whether this happens to any one else, but occasionally my throttle becomes a mind of its own, when I flatten it to the floor, sometimes it will stay there and takes 1 or 2 hard quick taps to release it from being stuck, anyone else find this a problem? If so how do I go about fixing it? I tried searching found nothing. Thanks all. Reg Quote
Felix Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Check your throttle cable, and carb linkages. You may have a frayed cable. Quote
greenmac80 Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Maybe yr accelerator cable is frayed?? that would cause it! Also it could be your needle and seat in yr carby? might not be closing up properly Quote
reg_ke35 Posted March 12, 2008 Author Report Posted March 12, 2008 Thanks for the replys!, Checked the cable, cable is in great nick, needle and seat should be okay, just got the carby reconditioned a little over 3 months ago, but I did loose the spring that operates the accelerator plunger thing, but I replaced it with one I found, maybe thats the problem? Dunno Thanks guys Reg Quote
Felix Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 (edited) Maybe try adding an extra throttle return spring, and oil the carb linkages. Edited March 13, 2008 by Felix Quote
reg_ke35 Posted March 13, 2008 Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 Will do, thanks Felix and others. Cya round, Reg Quote
coln72 Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Had a 3k-b set up that did the same. We had cut and shut the carby linkages so the early twin links would fit later model carbies. Found out that a bit of weld spatter would stick open the carbies at anything over two thirds throttle. Scared the shit out of me the first time it happened. 5k's are tough - handled a 8000rpm+ buzz with no issues. Probally doesn't help you though. Quote
reg_ke35 Posted March 13, 2008 Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 I will check the carb return spring, thanks Coln! Quote
coln72 Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 be careful fitting extra retur springs as it will make the htrottle hard to mobulate if it is too stiff. I know this cause I had to run two on each carby to satisfy the scruitineers. To strong on the springs and you will have probs moving the pedal. Quote
