trdracer94 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 New to the site here, want to apologize for my first few posts, I guess they weren't very good. Anyways, my name is Luke and I'm 25 years old. I'm from Spokane Washington in the USA. I have a ke15 Corolla Sprinter that I acquired from my friends parents. My Friend passed away a little while ago and his parents thought that he would have wanted me to have the sprinter so they gave it to me. I am working on building this car the way he would have built it. I plan on doing a 4A-GE Blacktop engine swap with hopefully a W55 transmission, but I may have to deal with a T50 for a little while. I'm still in the process of deciding what rear end to put in it, but I may just go with a custom built rear end that can handle the power, fit an LSD and have disc brakes. I will be doing a roll cage and a four link for the rear. I also will changing out the front suspension with something else, probably some parts from an AE86. I have many years of fabrication experience so most of the work will be done by myself. I also do body work and will be doing all the body work also. Here's some pictures of the car, and any suggestions you guys may have I wanna hear them, so fire away. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I'm doing it in remembrance of my friend. Quote
Rollaboy2608 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 good starting platform mate, we don't see alot of these over here at all. Sometimes the best motivation is provided by the death of a loved one, so just run with it! Doubt you'll have too many problems with a T50, unless you're going for big power Quote
trdracer94 Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) good starting platform mate, we don't see alot of these over here at all.Sometimes the best motivation is provided by the death of a loved one, so just run with it! Doubt you'll have too many problems with a T50, unless you're going for big power Well I'm afraid the T50 might not handle the blacktop, it will have a few mods to it, I'm not going for huge numbers, around 200hp, but the car will seeing some autocross and drift events. My friend bought it for that reason, he bought it so him, another friend of ours, and I could autocross it and use it at the drift events. So I plan on carrying on with that. Think the T50 will hold up? It is a pretty light car. I had a T50 in my toyota pickup with a 22RE, I ended up breaking that transmission and had to replace it, but maybe it wasn't taken very good care of by the owner before me? I will probably go for a T50 since I can get one pretty easily, and if I break it I will search for a W55. Anyone have any suggestions for a rear end? Looking for something I can put a LSD in and will also handle the abuse a little better. Doesn't have to be the same make either. Edited February 18, 2008 by trdracer94 Quote
WinKE55 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 R.I.P to your friend and I am sorry to hear about it. I'm sure he would be proud of you when it is complete. Quote
anastasios Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 hilux rear end? f series? what are you going to do about the rear suspension? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Well I'm afraid the T50 might not handle the blacktop, It should be fine, big torque numbers would probably damage it, but not 200hp. You'd be doing well to get 200hp at the wheels, if that was your goal, my blacktop gets around 120 at the wheels and thats a stock one, so 200 at the fly is well possible and easy enough to get, 200 at the wheels is pretty well unattainable without boost. What a wonderful way to remember your friend. Quote
trdracer94 Posted February 20, 2008 Author Report Posted February 20, 2008 hilux rear end? f series? what are you going to do about the rear suspension? I'm lookin for a rear end that is close to the same width. I'm doin a 4 link with a coilover suspension. I will be redoing the front as well. Quote

This summer I will just be getting it all together and hopefully on the road, then next winter in the down time I will have the engine back out and doin a lot of engine work, I got a friend who owns a machine shop. Tryin to source some cams for it, anyone know where I can find some? Same for oversized valves? I have heard that the T50 doesn't do so well with high revs...? Just what I've heard, so just wondering. I'm also gonna be entering autocross and drift events with it, not just playin around in the car on the streets, so thats why I am just wondering about the T50. ae174agze Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 hrmmm u can do that but i think you lose vvti can u even get bigger valves for the 20v might be a bit of a tight fit if you have a wxx box even tho its over kill at least you'll have peace of mind that if u give her a floggen then the box isnt going to fail on u Quote
