tolisspi Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I have the opportunity to have a clutch disc exedy 6puck strong for 350hp and 50kg torque (i think). The diameter is 212mm. So if i want to fit it in my 4age 16v (bluetop) i have to change also the clutch cover, bearing and the flywheel? Its worth something like that to "pass" the hp on the wheels? How many hp (%) can i pass with this mod (if its possible to counter it)? If i buy clutch disc, cover, Light Weight Flywheel, and bearing, i think to cost me 1000$AUD This moment i have TOYOTA OEM parts with clutch disc 200mm(i think) Or do you think it worth to fit a clutch kit, flywheel aftermarket (e.x. exedy or toda) with diameter 200mm, there would be a noticeable change? A clutch is a clutch. If you have a 16 valve 4age then you wont really start killing a standard clutch very fast with hard driving. That said, there can be incremental slip at high load or rpm. You only will need an uprated clutch if you are noticing the limits of the old one. Otherwise its a big expense and hassle to fit with no real gain. Finish which ever one is in the car off properly, get as much use as you can from it. Whether this means thrashing it so it dies fast, or whether it takes years. I don't see any point having a 350hp clutch in a 150 hp car. If it hooks up hard enough to spin the wheels it should be ok for a while. When you change clutches, you will find that even a gze clutch would fit, and they are around 220mm from memory, and AE92/20valve size which is 212. Its up to you, the most surface area is what you want i guess. Although with a 16v 4age you wont be finding too many limits of the 200mm one either. A light weight flywheel will have a noticeable improvement, by allowing the engine to rev freer, and accelerate harder, albeit with more throttle input. My AE111 4age flywheel is under 6kg factory, and what this means is I give it lots of throttle going up hills, maybe 30%, then 0% coming down the other side, and about 5% on the flat areas. This is compared to a heavy standard flywheel of around 10kg, which would see around 20% up, 5% down and maybe 8-10% on the flat. Hope this helps, some of your sentences were formed a bit funny, but you did pretty well! Quote
ca18rolla Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I wouldn t go all that trouble either buy or get the pressure plate modified so it has more clamping pressure or just get a custom clutch built. They really aren t that expensive. Think my last fll face organic built by NPC cost me under 400 and my custom 5 puck with modified pressure plate was 420 making 300 at the wheels and no sign of sliping Quote
