ke20rolla Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Hi, bought myself a 5k gear reduction starter today and was wondering what goes in this hole or what it is for. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Sure that is a reduction gear starter? Looks more like the standard planetary type starter to me.. (More pics to confirm?) There is usually a plastic drain plug that goes in that hole, don't freak out about it not being there.. Quote
ke20rolla Posted February 13, 2008 Author Report Posted February 13, 2008 Damn :y: I thought it was a gear reduction starter as it came of a 5k motor, and it looks different to the one that I have on there at the moment. So are these starters any better then an original starter say found on a 4k motor???? :S Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 5K one may be a bit more powerful, Unsure of the specs of each of them. Nippon Denso reduction starter looks like this.. Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 I had one on my KE30 I also ran 10mm battery leads It was brilliant. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 I have the specs if you all want? I can tell you now with out looking they are 1KW out put in power so will start rolla better. Starters come in: 0.6KW 0.8KW 1 KW (reduction drive type) Power output. And no load test draw 50~55amps.. Can dig up more info if you all need. Also as stated that starter of yours doesn't look like a reduction type. All 5K I have seen wreckers bough had standard types so some where along lines have been changed from gear reduction. Cheers Cameron Quote
ke20rolla Posted February 13, 2008 Author Report Posted February 13, 2008 did 5k motors come out with reduction starters or just planetary. Also what starter did the ke70 have. :y: Quote
Des Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 wow 1 kw, Would feel just the same as the engine running :y: Quote
ke20rolla Posted February 13, 2008 Author Report Posted February 13, 2008 looks like i will have to just try it and find out if it is more powerfull than the conventional 0.8kw one that i have on there now. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Pending on country released KE70 came with 0.6 to 0.8 KW..so umm hard to say...lol Yes des you are correct :y: PRIMA Cameron P.S. To much to type ill scan pages I have of starter info Quote
ke20rolla Posted February 16, 2008 Author Report Posted February 16, 2008 Got the starter motor in today much smaller and lighter than the old one. It works just fine, spins the engine over much faster. Just have to rub the key and away she goes, no more clicking or winding over. :'( Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 This is what a standard 4K starter looks like when you pull it apart.. http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...s/Starter_Motor I think you will find your one is a planetary gear type starter.. (Not quite the same as the one in the link above).. Quote
