the Db king Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) i work in lawnton (SEQLD) and yesterday i was handed a $50 note that looked ok, but my boss had another look and compaird it to one in has wallet and there were many lil differences, like the name under the peoples faces on each side were missing and also there are writing around the other way to normal, they look and feel the same as normal but there a fake there are heaps out there, just 2 shops down the road had 4 fake notes and another up a bit further had 2, so just be on the lookout for a $50 note that just doesnt look right NOT A FAKE WARNING Edited February 12, 2008 by the Db king Quote

JiP Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 We've gotten a few $50's at my work. The first didn't even have the southern cross on it and the second did, but it was terrible. It was drawn on with whiteout. Quote
WinKE55 Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Lol. May as well hand someone a cardboard piece with a 50$ sign on it. Quote
ke10rolla Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 gotta get my self some of these! Quote
stubbie Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 I haven't seen any in real life but some guy once showed me how to check. If you kind of click with the note between your fingers over the clear window, if its a fake it will come out because they are just glued on. Hard to explain it but yeah. Not good. Quote
JiP Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 The clear window should have the number on it. Like $50 will have 50 imprinted on both sides Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 But when checking, you have to be sly about it. The customer would get offended if you started checking the notes they give you when they are real. I always do it when I'm putting the money into the till. Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Are paper notes still legal tender I have not seen one in a while. Quote
Matt-e30 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Are paper notes still legal tender I have not seen one in a while. yeah paper notes are still all good .. found some a while back (bout a year or so ago) in an old draw we were moving out the old folks place and found about $150 worth in old notes .. told my grandfather bout it and he told me to keep it so i did.. went to a local store and they said they wouldnt take it .. second shop i went to allowed me to use one of the fiver's but then i went to the back and got the notes swapped over .. then all was good Quote
JiP Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Keep old paper notes. They are worth more now a days. I have bought a few myself off ebay. As for checking notes. Make a habbit of turning the notes around so the windows all face the same direction. Thats what I do. (That and Armaguard charges us if the notes aren't facing the same direction) Quote
