But good luk I may get the fabricated yet just need to get a front and rear strut to match up with, I have a front thanks to Trev and now just finding a rear may even steat Trevs again, LOL. 4ages Posted February 29, 2008 Author Report Posted February 29, 2008 Ok got some good news, either I get Trevs new boss to make some tops or get some fabricated my self it's only way these are gonna go on. IT WILL WORK!!! But better news is that clutch is in and the front bushes are in after they had to oxy them out, was in the shop for two days but all done now jor just $780 with clutch installed, front bushes in, new master and slave cylinders and the fly wheel machined. Happy days just to get the strut top now and I am on the way. Fells tighter already. Quote
4ages Posted March 2, 2008 Author Report Posted March 2, 2008 The sway bars are in now and still to go for a drive yet, what a pain in the ass that was but all done now thanks to Trev and his jap hands. Quote
4ages Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 Time to bring this back to the front page. I picked up my top plates for my coil overs this afternoon, $300 not too bad I guess but hopefully worth the wait. I will get pics up when I go and see Trev this weekend and I will be able to give his bearing top back as he donated it for the make up. Thanks Trev. Then once the coils are in its off do Rocklea Mechanical to get it setup, thankyou Matt. Quote

Bout damn time indeed, Looks like it will be back in the carport up on the stands next weekend for some coils :hmm: Did they make a template of the camber tops cause remember the AE82 camber top is non existent. Mybowlcut Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 What's the difference between buying a cheap clutch and an "Excedy" clutch? I see that Excedy clutches are mentioned a lot on these forums but me knowing little about this stuff... I'm unsure of the differences... Quote
4ages Posted March 29, 2008 Author Report Posted March 29, 2008 (edited) What's the difference between buying a cheap clutch and an "Excedy" clutch? My clutch is known as a Sports Tuff cushion Button, it still has the normal look of a standard clutch but the plate is only five sections of plate like a normal button clutch. It allows more transfer of torque through to the drive shafts and also bites harder onto the flex plate, basically when you drop the clutch the B/S stops. I will get pics whilst at Trevs well of the box anyway.. Edited March 29, 2008 by 4ages Quote

The clutch that slim has and any other button clutch there is 2 clutch levels ENGAGED or DISENGAGED, The exedy's are made of a different material than your average pbr aswell. Quote

You're saying that the only difference is that they're made of a different material? What's pbr? Quote
Trev Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 So is it noticeable driving with an Excedy compared with a standard one? I don't get it haha. You're saying that the only difference is that they're made of a different material? What's pbr? Yes it is as the performance handling is different, My mate has one in his T-18 road/race car and he can dump it at 7000rpm and it will grab and wheel spin, There is no slip what so ever. Have you ever driven a car with a button clutch and tried to ride the clutch to stop the car from rolling backwards on a hill? What i was saying is there is no clutch between engaged and disengaged, As soon as you let the clutch out slowly it will try to stall, Its a bit of a pain in the ass in traffic but you get used to it. Mybowlcut Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 I don't think I have driven a car with a button clutch, cause I can always stop myself from rolling using my clutch. What cars have button clutches? Sorry to fill the thread with crap but I'm just curious about it haha. Quote

Mine has a sorta shudder to a jolt depending on the sort of take off you attempt. Quote
