frosty Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 No Fuel Day Please copy and send via email to all your contacts IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN AUSTRALIA DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES. THEREFORE FRIDAY FEBRUARY 22nd HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED ‘STICK IT UP THEIR ASS DAY’ AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLYAS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT. WAITING FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES? IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED LONG AGO? THE PRICES JUST KEEP GOING UP AND WE NEED TO STOP IT PETROL PRICES ARE CAUSING OTHER EFFECTS; AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, AS ARE TRUCKING COMPANIES. THIS INCREASES PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE FEBRUARY 22nd THE DAY CITIZENS OF AUSTRALIA SAY 'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH' Quote
Philbo Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 I like the intentions behind this, but wouldn't everyone just fill the day before/after? I just can't imagine one day of boycotting fuel stations having any effect. I may be wrong of course, but can anyone explain how this will cause oil companies to "choke on their own stockpiles"? 67Rolla-Ken Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 (edited) I'm sure it won't, didn't the last time this went around! ;) Edited February 6, 2008 by Dunadan Quote
Jason Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 wouldnt it be more effective for an entire week? I know i only fill up on Tuesdays, maybe once a week. Quote
Des Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 wouldnt it be more effective for an entire week? I know i only fill up on Tuesdays, maybe once a week. Same. Quote
7shades Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 I don't fuel up. Well, not in the Surf at least. This bitch makes his own juice ;) Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Been around for years. Been proven as false too, many times. Firstly, if you don't by fuel from a service station on one day, you'll just buy it another day. The demand is still there. You're still driving just as much. Much better to have a "Don't drive at all" day instead. Secondly, it won't affect the oil companies one bit. They've already sold the petrol to the service stations, so they've got their money. Thirdly, service stations only get refilled from trucks roughly once a week. One particular day without any sales won't affect this, it'll just mean more petrol being sold the days before and after the boycott. Here's some light reading on the topic, and how it has been around for years (with no success because it doesn't work) Quote
Nitephyre Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 God, this shit shows up EVERY year and it's always the same.... WASTE OF f@$kING TIME. Damn chain scams :/ Quote
7shades Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Its the thought that counts. At least gets people thinking... but yeah there are better ways to put the fear of god (and falling profits) into OPEC. Quote
Trev Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 (edited) Meh i filled up on the day they said to not fill up last year, I reckon its a load of shit setup by fuel companies to make high sales on a day that they will put the prices up, One comment from last year was that the fuel company would probably just have the fuel prices really low for that day so you couldnt resist filling up. JiP Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 It could work, If everyone had 6 cars like me, and If all had fuel, No one would fill up for 6 weeks or so. Then they'd choke. Quote
Jason Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I was just thinking. That no matter how long you abstain from filling up, it wont matter. Becuse your just going to get it some other time. The only way would be to stop using fuel for a couple of weeks. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 You ladies are so negative....KEEP THE NO FUEL DREAM ALIVE Quote
4ages Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 I haven't filled up for two weeks :) Quote
