greenmac80 Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 (edited) Hey all. ummm been discussing what to do to my 7K when it comes.... and the general consensus is that supercharging will be better? now i've read that 7K's don't like revving? is this because of hydrolic lifters? thoghts anyone? turbo or SC? Des Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 They have a long stroke which generally means less revs, More torque down low. Supercharge it. Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 29, 2008 Author Report Posted January 29, 2008 Ok sweet! thought as much..... how muchish am i looking at? i don know wats involved in SC n a motor so i don know what extra bit you need and what the best typr of set up is! This will be for EFI Quote
Des Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Custom supercharger brackets Intercooler. Piping. Silicon joints. After market ECU. Will probably need better injectors. Tuning. Lots more bits but i haven't done it before so i don't know what exactly is needed. Supercharged 7k would have some nuts. Quote

bruce Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 There's a supercharged 7K in a publica ute, shown in the Rides & Projects section. Might give you some inspiration link Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 29, 2008 Author Report Posted January 29, 2008 wow. doesn't look too hard... a bit easier than turbo i think. expensive though! injectors wouldn't be cheap could find second hand SC and IC. then silicone hoses and stuff would be pricey? Quote
dfunkt Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 2nd hand SC and IC come by every few months, same with efi gear. silicone hose joins are fair cheap too. there's injectors for sale regularly around the traps too. Quote

Taz_Rx Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Injectors are easy to find and fit. I got 6x 315cc (7mge) ones for $150! Here's a good site for toyota injector info..... http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0102/articl...?popularArticle Have a read of the turbo 4k thread in engine conversions forum, there's a lot of applicable info there. For a 7k, I reckon you'd be better off with a stock cam and SC. Will work much better in the torque range, rather than power. That's exactly what I have planned for my *one day* 4x4. :hmm: Quote

greenmac80 Posted January 30, 2008 Author Report Posted January 30, 2008 would this be any good? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Supercharger-Boost-...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
Taz_Rx Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Next best link I've used when working out what injectors to use..... http://www.digitaldutch.com/unitconverter/ so 250hp = 186kw.......that'll do me for a little while!! ;) Oh btw, try and get a high ohm injector aswell. The 13.8ohms ones will be easier to setup in the ECU. Quote
