icarus1314 Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 hi guys, i am new to this forum, no sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway, i need some help with few questions i've got stuck in my head  to make long sentance short, i am lookin to buy my second car, originally i was gonna try and get a AE82 local, or import a AE86 from japan (yes, i love Initial D  ) but then i found out they are either hard to find, or expancive to import.....and i really don't have a pocket that deep so atm i have my eyes set on the AE92 hatchbacks (92 ~ 94 model) so here is my question someone once told me the AE92 come stock with the 4AGE engine and that is it the best N/A engine u can get for the AEs, is that true ??? if not, where can i find the engine around melbourne? (either the 16V or 20V dosent matter, i did a bit or research on the net and it seems that the 16V is actually better......but anyway..... :y: ) i have ask around for few weeks and i have yet recieve an answer... also, i don't know much about cars, so just wondering if the 4AGE can be placed into a automatic model of AE92???? atm i am hunting around for the suitable AE92 and i have yet to find one, i was hoping to get one in black :hmm: hope to find it soon, coz me and my friend has already planned few projects for my AE92 and his Charade (Y) finally i just wanna say i really need you guys to give me a hand here, hope to get a reply soon :2thumbs: thanks guys Quote

7shades Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 so atm i have my eyes set on the AE92 hatchbacks (92 ~ 94 model) so here is my question someone once told me the AE92 come stock with the 4AGE engine and that is it the best N/A engine u can get for the AEs, is that true ??? A standard AE92 has a 4A-FE engine. These are a still twin cam, but built for economy rather than performance. Only the GTi model has the 4A-GE engine. if not, where can i find the engine around melbourne? (either the 16V or 20V dosent matter, i did a bit or research on the net and it seems that the 16V is actually better......but anyway..... :hmm: ) There are several billion engine importers in melbourne, most of which should have 4AGEs in stock. All variants of the 4AGE will bolt into an AE92, some more easily than others. Do some more research and ring around some workshops for advice on cost and difficulty. also, i don't know much about cars, so just wondering if the 4AGE can be placed into a automatic model of AE92???? Yes, but why would you... driving an automatic sports car is like having sex with the lights off. Sure, you still get to where you were going, but it wasn't as much fun getting there... atm i am hunting around for the suitable AE92 and i have yet to find one, i was hoping to get one in black Dark metallic grey is the closest you will get hope to find it soon, coz me and my friend has already planned few projects for my AE92 and his Charade I hope one the plans for the Charade involves setting fire to it Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 The SX got the 4AGE as well as the GTi. The GTi is basically a lower-spec SX created after the mid-life upgrade of the AE92 Quote
7shades Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Aaah yes... completely forgot about the SX.... they had those silly little decals on the doors which look like Ken Done's technicolour vomit.... Quote
tenji Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 ive seen like a charcoal/blackish coloured GTI but most other sx's have been either red or white. i bought one as a daily driver and is great. I may sell if offered a decent amount :hmm: mines fully stock though. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 7AFE with an 4AGE head, 1800cc with the good head. and it has been done!! Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Original Twinkys (AE82 Twincam) and AE92 SXs were only available in Red and White. The GTi (and later SXs, I think) came with charcoal grey too, and possibly other colours Quote
