Tally Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Looks real neat man!!! You need to find the bonnet trim and paint the lower metal trim and it will look much better Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted June 4, 2008 Author Report Posted June 4, 2008 Hey Tally, I got the bonnet strip still, but its rusted out to the shitter. so yeah i need to find a new one. I even think mine is beyond bog!!!!! Still trying to work out how to take the bottom strip out without breaking anything. Will work on that on the weekend...I got off work this weekend. and cheers for the comments. Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted June 8, 2008 Author Report Posted June 8, 2008 Small update thats not so good. Decided to give the ke25 a service on saturday, and change the thermostat housing as it was all corroded. So did the service took off the old thermostat housing, cleaned it all up and went to put the new housing back on, did up one bolt, then the next one, half way in...snap. Head broke off. OH GREAT! So me and my mate tryed all the tricks, tryed my dads stud removers etc etc. Couldnt get it out. So i decided ill wait for dad to get home and he can have a look at it. He got home, had a look and decided that we should take the whole housing section off, so he starts to undo the bolts...snap! next one...snap! so now have 3 broken bolts that are stuck in very tight. So she is off the road for the time being, dad is going to work on them tomorrow instead as it was night when he looked at it yesterday. So I'm a bit unpleased that she is off the road. But at least it didnt break down, It was all while we were working on it anyway. So while i was waiting i painted a few more parts silver. I also Bought a cheap decal from supercheap for shits and giggles, which I'm yet to put on the car (can be removed without damage and I'm planning on doing a quick respray on it at some stage in the near future in original colour) So yeah, should be performing daily duties again shortly...I'm missing her already. Cheers Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 Ill start by saying don't flame me! Rego runs out end of this month, and the ke25 being my daily i can't get in and fix things unless i can do it in 1 day (which is rare for me to have one free) so I'm limited to hardly being able to do anything to the car. So my thoughts were let the rego expire and pull the car down and rebuild it, full respray, replace & upgrade suspension, lower it a little, upgrade the engine (5k or something more sinister), driveline upgrade to go with it, and possibly adding some te27 features. I'm not out for a show car just a nice presentable streeter thats unique. And i want the rust to be gone (as time has gone on i have found more....and more faults) but again I'm only thinking about doing this. If i was to go ahead with this then i would be driving the streets in a fwd celica in its place and wouldnt have a rolla to cruise around in. But my main reason for posting this is to find out, what will peoples reactions be to this? I'm still in 2 minds. Cheers Jake Quote
Kid-Ae Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 As long as you have a reliable daily then why not? You can make this thing exactly how you want it and then can enjoy the rewards of your effort. As long as funds permit, go for it :( Quote
PMP020 Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 once again, another ke25 that will prolly never see the road again. will become just another unfinished project in the for sale section or worse SCRAP HEAP all because funds don't permit and youve got to many projects on the go. feel free to quote me on this in the future. cheers, scott Quote
PMP020 Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 lucky bastardits willow green aswel. please tell me its going to stay a stocker and bring many more years of daily driving action. instead of many more years of sitting in a shed half stripped because you don't know what holden colour to paint it. in short, drive it everyday untill you die, or sell it. its what these beautys were made for. oh and u could have driven it home with no water, aslong as it had oil they will go for days. cheers, scott i warned ya :( i feel strongly against the idea of takin it off the road, if you didnt notice. cheers, scott Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted July 15, 2008 Author Report Posted July 15, 2008 Yeah Scott....your previous comment (the one you quoted) is the main reason for saying don't flame me...But the fact of the matter is....I can't fix half the things that need it due to having to have it on the road the next day, funds arent really a problem as its not all happening at the same time, I'm working 2 jobs, and I'm going to be doing bits and peices at a time. I WOULDNT DREAM OF SCRAPPING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or even selling it. I am going to be very motivated to do this, I love my ke25 and i will miss driving it every day i don't. My timeline is to have at least all the bodywork, paint, interior done within 1 year max. I'm not out to have all genuine parts as that would just hold me up and they are too hard to find (rather other people with more quality builds to have them) ....engine choice/install may take longer as i would like to build the engine so i know its going to be ok. Corolla's...In order to save them they need to spend some time in recovery. Thats the way i look at it anyways Cheers Jake Quote

I'm deciding to take you up on the offer of quoting you. lol Have decided to bring the car back on the road as a daily. Will do a rebuild later on in its life. I'm keeping the car for a long time so i will do it when i get a better paying job. Will let you all know when its all registered again. I didnt start the rebuild on it because i was waiting for shed space. So it wont take too much to get it back on the road. Cheers Jake Quote

Queen20v Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 Not happy! Got pulled up for an rbt, yeah no worries, i knew it was there as i drove past it once then was coming back to town, So i got pulled in with a group of other cars so they can test them all. I get my license out ready, but to avail, he didnt rbt me. Instead he asked to look under my bonnet. Its a KE25 stock as a rock, Not much to see here. So i pop it, he has a quick look, then puts it down and tells me to move down past the rbt station when the cars in front move away. So i do as instucted, he came down with his book in hand, and gets me to pop the bonnet so he can have a look again. So i lift the bonnet and he says now look at all that oil, it must have a blown gasket or something. I replyed, Nah officer, The o-ring on the dizzy was gone, so we replaced it but the generic brands don't seal and i have to get a genuine one from toyota which i havent had time to do. He replyed "well look at the oil it must be leaving trails everywhere" i looked back where i drove through their rbt station...guess what..no trail. I said to that no officer, its only leaking a little bit of oil onto the motor, a little bit of oil goes a long way. but by this stage he had already started writing up the fine. So there was no way that he was going to stop anyway. I told him i bought it off a granny and I'm trying to fix it all up. Still writing. So i asked him "is this a defect?" he said No, its just a fine, no points yada yada yada. I asked how much for..$132. darn!!!!! (excuse my language) i replyed (soft enough to not get in trouble but loud enough for him to hear) And he also said i need new number plates, and he looked at my not retracting seatbelts to see if they needed replacing too due to fraying. Asshole. I have P-Plates so I'm instantly a target, i don't even have an exhaust system on it, so its not loud or anything, my music was down, etc etc. they just saw a nice looking old car to see whats up with it. Waste of my time and money, And to fight it wastes more time and money. Sorry for the rant. It makes me sooooo angry to read this. I would have been struggling so hard not to punch that loser on your behalf. :) Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted November 17, 2008 Author Report Posted November 17, 2008 A big thanks goes to scott for the bonnet trim. Will look much more tight up front once its wearing its numberplate. Quote
