My Ke25...back Off The Road

deep dish and whitewalls would be contrasting styles.

 

it looks good how it is, but i've always thought flares look great on ke25s but not ke20s so you could make the most of that.

 

i did my rocker covers in the vht wrinkle paint.

dam good find, wish my 25 was that straight body wise but hey, i paid 200 for it whaddaya expect. looks real good in that colour with them hot wires on. i might put my put my mates hotwires on cus I'm tired of my 14" 'rona wheels scrubbing every time I'm at full lock. haha.

if i didnt have to cut then i would put the flares on. My mate keeps telling me, that if i butcher my car or anything like that he will kill me...(he has a datsun 1200 coupe racecar so he can talk) just because its in half decent condition and its original.

 

but yeah if they didnt look so god darn tuff with flares we would all be fine and not have to cut away at our beloved cars.

Not happy!

 

Got pulled up for an rbt, yeah no worries, i knew it was there as i drove past it once then was coming back to town, So i got pulled in with a group of other cars so they can test them all. I get my license out ready, but to avail, he didnt rbt me. Instead he asked to look under my bonnet. Its a KE25 stock as a rock, Not much to see here. So i pop it, he has a quick look, then puts it down and tells me to move down past the rbt station when the cars in front move away. So i do as instucted, he came down with his book in hand, and gets me to pop the bonnet so he can have a look again. So i lift the bonnet and he says now look at all that oil, it must have a blown gasket or something. I replyed, Nah officer, The o-ring on the dizzy was gone, so we replaced it but the generic brands don't seal and i have to get a genuine one from toyota which i havent had time to do. He replyed "well look at the oil it must be leaving trails everywhere" i looked back where i drove through their rbt station...guess what..no trail. I said to that no officer, its only leaking a little bit of oil onto the motor, a little bit of oil goes a long way. but by this stage he had already started writing up the fine. So there was no way that he was going to stop anyway. I told him i bought it off a granny and I'm trying to fix it all up. Still writing.

 

So i asked him "is this a defect?" he said No, its just a fine, no points yada yada yada. I asked how much for..$132.

f@$k!!!!! (excuse my language) i replyed (soft enough to not get in trouble but loud enough for him to hear)

 

And he also said i need new number plates, and he looked at my not retracting seatbelts to see if they needed replacing too due to fraying. Asshole.

 

I have P-Plates so I'm instantly a target, i don't even have an exhaust system on it, so its not loud or anything, my music was down, etc etc. they just saw a nice looking old car to see whats up with it. Waste of my time and money, And to fight it wastes more time and money.

Lucky its a fine and not a defect or you'd have to replace pretty much every worn out bush in the car, so consider yourself lucky :hmm:

id put a 5k in it then. I'm going to be going 5k when i can get the spare cash to buy it off the guy. But it would just be put in if any part of the motor was defected. But yeah I'm getting alot of mixed response whether or not to fight the fine though.

 

and ill hopefully be going flares. they Look the toughest with them on, even without fender mirrors.

well I'm hoping that i can save up enough for rego due end of july so that i can use my tax money for the 5k and installation.

 

And if theres enough left over... the 4age might get some work done to it for the race car.

Nah, its my daily, i need to keep it drivable at all times or find a gap to do it. Its just a tidy up of some loose ends. Things ive done but now changed mind etc. i even got started on a few things this morning after fitting my new fuel pump to replace the 35 year old one that was in it.

 

so don't stress. she is keeping her daily driving duties.

Well bout time i updated this thing...not much has happened got my personalised number plates KR-01-LN, painted the grill and corner garnishes silver (just straight over the black no prep work) to see how they look on the car silver. Got the genuine o-ring but to no avail...still leaking. cleaned the engine off, ran it for quite some time and looked to see if i could see a leak...some oil had started to appear on one of the 2 bolt holes in the block just above the fuel pump. what are/were these used for anyway? Will get dad to have a proper look one arvo for me.

 

will grab some new photo's for you all tomorrow in the daylight.

 

Also bought some new speakers and got my mate (grandson of the lady i bought it off) to make the boxes for them. (so they are all straight and flush). Now just waiting on a time (i works 6-7 days a week) when i can get him to help me to carpet them and the rear parcel tray in black carpet. The speakers are Kenwood 6x9's for those interested.
