Tally Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 (edited) very nice KE25 dude. Love it to bits... reminds me of mine. p.s The only thing that bothers me is that the rear taillights are correct but they have early model surounds. Also get some spray paint and paint the grill silver. Looks much better in my opinion. Cheers Tally Edited January 26, 2008 by Tally Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted January 28, 2008 Author Report Posted January 28, 2008 I Got my Radiator Back After its recore, it got put in on friday afternoon, but didnt get a real chance to give it a run over the weekend (was at Kandos Street Machine and Hot Rod Show), so i took it out today. Took it around the mount to see how it went. This is the in-car video: All i can say is The car is much better to drive when the temp gague stays down. So i have my new daily going. Looking at a new steering wheel soon, this one is Rooted. There are a few cracks over it (on the back), safer to replace. Undecided on whether to try to find an un-cracked stock one, or to just go out and get an aftermarket one to use for now. Still undecided on whether to do it up or send it back to original spec. but if i do it up, I will be keeping all the original gear to return it at a later date. My mate was saying his grandparents might have a 5K sitting in their shed not being used, so if i find out it is i will buy that. Story is, it was an insurance job, it was using a little bit of oil so it was replaced, it only has around 10,000km on it. Heres Hoping!!! Anyways, hope you all enjoy. Jake Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted February 1, 2008 Author Report Posted February 1, 2008 I got productive today, I decided to pull apart my celica's dash and put the Head unit out of it into the KE25. Yet to install the speakers as i need to buy the board to make speaker boxes so i don't have to cut up my car. Plus i found a few other things to possible salvage out of the celica for the rolla. But unsure. The celica is my next project so they might stay in there. But anyways Pictures!! Then there is the massive jumble of wires in the doner car. I gots me some work to do on that project. But thats later down the track. I also cleaned the underside of my bonnet as it was filthy. Before (with small section cleaned off): After: I also did a general service, replaced the fuel filter (hadnt been done for a VERY long time) but still havent got around to degreasing the engine. thats for another day when I'm more motivated. Next on my agenda is doing the speakers. Let me know what you think. Cheers Jake Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted February 6, 2008 Author Report Posted February 6, 2008 Speakers are in, didnt cut any trim. An achievement if i have ever made one. No photo's yet, but the speakers crank up quite nicely. It was just a quick job, so they were in there. Still gets peoples attention. Gimme a few days for photo's. Cheers Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted February 8, 2008 Author Report Posted February 8, 2008 Found some nice seat covers today, so i bought them to cover up the cracked top on the back seat and to keep the rest of them in good condition aswell. (Speakers in photo's also) I had the car on the hoist the other day and did a bit of further inspection. Found a patch of rust that needs some attention soon. But overall was quite impressed. Thats all i have done to it for now. Although looking at either a 4k or possibly a 5k for a bit of extra get up and go and probably a 5 speed aswell. Cheers Quote
Raven Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 I envy the fact that you have hardly any rust in your 25 and its a good base to start of with, thats for sure. Watch out along the sill panels and behind the inner guard around near the bottom where the guard bolts up. You'll see why if you look at my thread :) Quote
PMP020 Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 interior is looking clean, nice work. any luck with your window chromes yet? cheers, scott Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted February 11, 2008 Author Report Posted February 11, 2008 Yes it looking much better now. Havent bothered with the window chromes as of yet as i have 3 cars begging for my money, go figure. I had a guy come into work on sunday, he was driving past, saw my car parked out the front of work, so he popped in and asked who's car it was. the register girl told him it was mine and pointed him in my direction. He was saying he has one himself which he has stripped down to basically nothing and is rebuilding it. He offered me some 14x6 hotwire mags, an exhaust system, and a recently rebuilt 5k with a mild cam. All for $500 or just the hotwires for $100. so i will be giving him a call tomorrow, (now i have been paid some dollars), and working out if i shall buy all or some. Definately the wheels at the least. He also was saying he has quite a few spare parts to suit. Straight rear bumper, decent condition dash, uncracked steering wheel. He was also saying that he had never seen the parcel shelf that goes underneath the whole dash, the one in this picture http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...st&id=21118 Can get a better pic upon request if needed. I shall also be going into auto one or repco to buy some new tie rods. Mine are majorly rooted. Also on the need soon list are some new front struts, These ones are rooted also (wont pass rego). so some stuff is happening, slowly but surely. Cheers Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted February 12, 2008 Author Report Posted February 12, 2008 I find i need to tell everyone the price i payed for this as i havent seen any like this cheaper. The only ones i have seen cheaper are really rusted out or pulled apart missing pieces. So to elaborate what it had when i bought it: Minimal rust 82,668 original miles Single owner 7 months rego Decent condition interior Complete Original wheels with hubcaps Engine starts REALLY easy Un molested Original books Near full tank of fuel All for $1250 What do you all think? PMP020 Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) absolute steal!! lucky man. u need to hit up that fella with tha parts, grab the wheels and the 5K no questions asked. u don't find ealy KEs in this condition for that price anymore. a few years ago wen i owned my best KE20s i got them for next to nothing, just a few hundred bux. times have changed. old people have died and there cars have been slowly been eaten up. hold onto this puppy. cheers, scott Edited February 12, 2008 by PMP020 Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted February 17, 2008 Author Report Posted February 17, 2008 I went around to see the guy with the ke25 and ke20 today. I bought the hotwires off him for now. But will more than likely buy the 5k and exhaust off him when funds permit this. They suit the car very nicely. Will have photo's on the morrow. They have taken away the vibration which i thought was due to the idler arm being stuffed. So I'm glad that it is not causing the vibration but not so glad coz it is still stuffed. So will get onto that soon enough. So it must have been a wheel balance issue. I'm in the mood to hack up some corolla. I need my ae71 back at my place to work on. It is dying to have the rest of its sound deadener removed...and for me to finish /start rebuilding the 4age for it. But i need to start saving for rego before i start spending on that sort of stuff. Just bits and pieces when they pop up for now sounds good. So thats my progress for now. And for a while on this car. Besides the idler arm. Check here tomorrow some time for pics. Cheers Quote

Jono Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i bought my ke20 for $1500 it had 72000km with full log books, all original. i can't believe people pay up to $4500 for a similar car. its since been molested by me, and soon to be back on the road with a turbo 4age. Quote
