toyocharged Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 My two nephews will be racing at Baturst that easter weekend in the IP class. There will be fantastic racing and plenty of variety and no V8 stupidcars in sight. love ke70 Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 how close do you guys get to stupidcar times? Quote
irokin Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I read about this and was keen to do it...but IPRA doesn't agree with some of my silvias specs. More specifically the 15 inch rims they require me to run don't agree with my 296mm brake rotors... and I don't agree with turbo restrictors :D Hope they have a blast, should be a fantastic event. toyocharged Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 how close do you guys get to stupidcar times? Round our local track at Mallala the quickest IP car RX3 with a BP18T in it does mid 1:15s The V8 supercars do a 1:10 round Mallala, they do have 14 in slicks where the Mazda about runs a huge 195/60/14 street legal tyre. The acceleration between the IP car and V8 Supercar would be line ball I read about this and was keen to do it...but IPRA doesn't agree with some of my silvias specs. The silvias can now run 17in wheel/tyre combo now 2 in up from stock because they run in late model, the restrictors are a PITA but the motors have plenty of torque to compensate, a few more lbs of boost up high would be nive though A few silvias are being built now and they seem to be pretty competitive out the box Quote

I didn't much like the idea of running 15s and standard brakes. Theyre badly underbraked just for spirited driving, but if I can run 17s that means I can easily move up to 324mm rotors which would be nice. Whats the rules on rim widths? I'm running 17x9 all round at the moment and I get the feeling that wouldn't be legal. The turbo Ive got on the moment would probably suit a restrictor pretty well, just might need to find a 3.9 diff out of something. hrmm might be back to building the car to IPRA regs... Thanks for the info :D Edit: Just reading...17x9s are allowed for silvias but I can't for the life of me find a A032R or A048R in a 50 profile for 17s. Probably cheaper and easier for me to run 16x8 R32 GTR rims as opposed to the R33 GTR rims I currently run. Quote

KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Might have to head up and have a look at some nice rolla's on the track. Is it full lap racing or just sections of the track? Quote

Full lap racing mate, not sure of the lap nos as sup regs arent out yet. The grid will be 55 IP cars which will be fantastic, looks like all the classes were oversubsribed so full grids 55 cars for all classes. Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Tha sounds really good. Wish my car was suitable. I would love to be able to go flat out around the whole track for once. Rather than just sections. would be sooo much better. I'm sure it will be enjoyed by all. Quote
