benzo Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Just wondering for people with whitewalls what tyre polish do you use, as mine have faded with the one I'm using. I bought it from the guy who did my whitewalls as he said most other tyre polished fade the whitewalls but now this has done the same. Ben Quote
flat out Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 bleech? i herd it does the trick Quote
benzo Posted January 17, 2008 Author Report Posted January 17, 2008 lol really that sounds too easy... Quote
Davros El Davros Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Hey man, I too was wondering what polish to use - I heard that there is a certain type of truckwash that is good to use on whitewalls. Forget the name right now, but the guy who did mine recommended it. My whitewalls have faded to a dirty brown, but apparently its because the tyres were too new when I got them whitewalled and there are certain pigments that leak out of the rubber and stain the paint. Anyway they look like ass right now... Quote
benzo Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 Yeah I may have the same problem then as my tyres were only 3 days old when I got mine done. Quote
7shades Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 CT-18 truckwash cleans em up goood. Also domestos.... really Quote
c budge Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 don't get whitswalls on new tires u have 2 wait about a month my boss has had them on all his cars and thats what he told me when i got mine and i have had the whitewalls now for about 7 months and still white.. not yellowwalls Quote
wasfishing Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 so u hav to get the white walls painted on? i thought u brought the tyres like that Quote
dfunkt Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 there's 3 options when it comes to whitewalls, and it all depends on your budget and desired outcome. you can paint whitewalls on yourself, you can buy tires with them built into the sidewall, and you can pay someone to come around and cut whitewalls into whatever tire you have on the car/will put on the car. ScottKE1X Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 or you can get flappers and jam them in between the tyre and the rim. the guy who "paints" the whitewalls on first cuts into the sidewall so the white rubber paint sits in its own little groove. Quote
Davros El Davros Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Yeah thats what happened with mine - dude came around and ground a small groove in the tyre then painted the white on. He did tell me that the tyres may have been a bit new, and he was right cause they have faded pretty hard now. Does anyone know of a paint that you can use to make them white again after it has faded? The dude who did mine said its a specialised latex rubber paint? Quote
