Jason Posted November 23, 2004 Author Report Posted November 23, 2004 :insane: $350 for a motor, wow, i was thinking around $1500 for a cheap one!! Quote
Teddy Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Ok people, ive been talking to Jason and we have come up with a few things. Â On Saturday we are going Ae71 hunting :jason:! Â Secondly, we are seriously looking into getting a half cut which has a 4AGZE - looking at the MR2. (RWD). Would we get the back half or the front half? - because its mid mounted I'm not sure which section we would get ! Â Also, because the MR2 4AGZE is mid mounted, will there be any problems with dizzys getting stuck on the Ae71 fire wall / Intake and exhausts facing the incorrect way ?... things like that. Â i know this may sound a bit like a toymod post, but alota the ricer nuebs on there just go "i want a fast motor for my corolla" - when they are talking about mums corolla and they don't have a job. Jason has got the money ready, and 2 years time to get this all together. Hes an electrical genius, and this project wil happen ! Â So, the point of this post? - What are your ideas / opinions, etc - things like that. Â Thanks all, and in 2 years - there will be a mildly evil Ae71 heading your way :insane: Quote
irokin Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 You get the back half of the car. Rolin automotive has one in stock for $2,500. Â they also have a 3S-GTE for $2,500 too.... Quote
Jason Posted November 25, 2004 Author Report Posted November 25, 2004 (edited) How much more effort is required for mounting? Will i need a new gear box for that power? Â And would there any more trouble in putting it in a KE70 Edited November 25, 2004 by Jason Quote
mumblezzz Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 I've got a mate who's AW11 got written off. I'll ask him if he's interested in selling the engine. Dizzy wont be a problem with an AW11 motor. Quote
demuire Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 You should be able to use the standard AE71 gearbox, as long as you drive it with respect. Upgrading the gearbox isn't really all that simple (you'd probably go to a W5x out of a Supra) and those gearboxes are HUGE anyway. Â If I'm not mistaken the AW11 4AGZE still has the dizzy in the same place as all the other 16V's, so you won't have a problem there. As far as I know the engine is identical (visually) apart from the supercharger, and I think it's AFM instead of MAP. Quote
demuire Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Mounting in an AE71 should be more or less bolt in. Mounting in a KE70 requires a bit more stuffing around with engine mounts and hydraulic clutch. Quote
Teddy Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Yeah - hopefully we get the $500 Ae71 on saturday :insane: ! Â Ill keep everyone up to date ! Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 yeah the aw11 has the dizzy out the side. an ae101 4agze would be better... later model more power and dizzy isnt a prob casue its c/a senser Quote
ae71neo Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 That wasnt the aw11 you were driving at drift day mumblezzz? Quote
Teddy Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 Ah ok - any idea what a ae101 half cut would go for ? Quote
