Hey all.

I just got a new exhaust put through my car...

extractors to two inch straight through...

way too loud and the only power difference is that it can pull up hills a bit easier.

a small problemo...

used to be able to floor it out of a corner and most likely get sideways....

now the motor kind of dies...

no power....

so does the exhaust really take away that much bottom end power?

or could it be something to do with my carby? which is stock.

only seems to happen when turning right

should have gone for a 1.75' into 2'

k engines need back pressure to make power, but you would know that if you read the 5 exhaust related posts in the ke section

Yes i already know that you need back pressure.

I went to profix and asked them to do it.

they asked me the car model size of motor etc.

and they said 2 inch so i went with what the 'professionals' suggested

WHAT can't hear you over the motor yeah yeah muffler you need a muffler

and a resonator thingy as well

But really a 2" shouldn't be that bad.

Might even be an idea to give the motor a tune up

Oh? Hmm, weird then eh.

Me thinks topic starter needs more back pressure then if its dying around corners, though that seems to me to be a fuelling issue. Give it a re-tune and adjust the fuel mixtures again.

Hmm i was thinking the same thing...

fuel or carby needs a tune up

but i wasn't sure because

i didn't have any problem before i got the exhaust done.

it has one muffler but no resonator...

If it is fuel problems what could be the cause and/or problem?

thanks to all the wrote.

Cheers, Luc

I've had this problem before, check the float level, if it's not set right the engine will die in a corner due to fuel surge.

i have even seen guys make little baffle plates to go inside the fuel bowel to stop this happening.

did the exhaust guys fit the extractors?, they may have knocked something on the carby.

Yeah they fitted ther extractors

so maybe they did f somethin up.

I really don't know enough about carbies but would love to learn.

so how do you check and change the float level?

I got a 2inch system put on my standard 3k, kept the stock manifold, got a big resinator, and a turbo rear muffler, and i reackon its got more power.

Don't go straight thru!

Well i'm pretty fed up with the sound of the exhaust...

too loud for me and a real attention grabber.

You know.... race car sound.... slow moving car. :P

so yeah plan to take back to exhaust joint and get them to either put another muffler in or a resonator.

whichever they suggest

Definitely quieten it down, then see if you can get it jetted. Changing exhaust affects mixtures.
