I can weld, just that i don't have access to a welder away from work. If i get some guards maybe you could cut them out if you still got your template. Quote

greenmac80 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Report Posted January 3, 2009 I can weld, just that i don't have access to a welder away from work. If i get some guards maybe you could cut them out if you still got your template. hmmm.... yeah i can give you the template. but its not hard to do that bit! seriously give it a go youself... if you can get things ready n stuff i may be able to lend you the welder i'm using for a day!? Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Yea i might just grab the template off ya. How different is the gasless mig to a gas mig? since you said they were different. Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Report Posted January 3, 2009 ever arc welded?? its kinda like both mixed together. it arcs to start the welding using fluxcore wire. with the wire i have and the welder you have to do tack welds real short bursts otherwise it blows holes which you then have to fill in with more welding. Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Report Posted January 3, 2009 hey. bit more body work sees the guard loking like this!! almost done i reckon!! then whilst cutting these bits out i slipped with the grinder and copped a good one on my hand!! biiiig deeeep gouge in my hand!! :S :y: :S lol!! but this is where i'm up to. probs finish it tomorrow! then i gotta take care of bottom guard!!! man this car was a rust bucket!! Quote
roladude Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 I can't wait to see the finished product of the welding work youve done I wish I could weld :y: Quote
JiP Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 This car was a rust bucket?? KE55's are rust buckets. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 with the wire i have and the welder you have to do tack welds real short bursts otherwise it blows holes Yep, it is an absolute prick to weld metal this thin with a mig, most migs don't have enough adjustment on them to start with, you either don't get enough penetration, or blow holes :y: You are doing well under the circumstance. I am lucky my old man has an oxy, so i spot it in for him, and drag him over to finish weld it with the oxy :S Nice to see proper repairs, most people either fibreglass or bog the rust up :S Quote
