KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 temp gauge is not working at all but all other gauges work and the interior light does not work at all. any help at all would be awesome!! For temp gauge remove the wire from the sender put a test light or globe one side to earth the other side to the sender wire, watch the gauge. if the gauge reads a value replace the sender. If it still does not work do the same test at the back of the gauge if the gauge now reads check the wiring. if it still does not work the gauge is faulty. With a test light check that there is power at the light where the wire plugs in. there should be power there all the time, the light operates by door switch's earthing and completing the circuit. KE30 interior lights have a bad habit of loosing contact between the rivets and the strip that leads to the globe holders the easiest way is to undo the whole light assembly and replace with one from a wreck. Just earth the wire that goes to the sender and the guage should show full. And with the interior light...change the globe and check the fuse. Quote
Palmy Posted December 16, 2007 Author Report Posted December 16, 2007 thanks 4 that, will give those solutions a go sometime this week when i got spare time and let u kno what happens Quote
Palmy Posted December 18, 2007 Author Report Posted December 18, 2007 where abouts is the sender for the temp gauge?? globe and fuse is fine for interior light so i will jus get one off a parts car i got lined up, will prob end up doin same 4 instrument cluster too. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 Assuming it is a K motor it is in the thermostat housing at the front of the head. Quote
Palmy Posted December 20, 2007 Author Report Posted December 20, 2007 yeah it is a 4K-C motor. there were 2 wires connecting to the thermostat so i tested them both cause i didnt kno which 1 2 actually test, for the wire on top i hooked up a test light and there was no reading on the gauge but the test light was quite dull, for the wire underneath i hooked that up and the gauge was reading in the red zone and also the test light was dull. i let it idle 4 a couple of mins beforehand and then gave it a bit of a rev. so because it read a value i gotta replace sender but which wire do i go by? Wire on top- (No Reading) http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...uy/IMGP0742.jpg Wire underneath- (Reading) http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...uy/IMGP0743.jpg sorry this photo is on angle as for the interior light, i had no result what so ever. globe is fine, what fuse does the interior light run off? cause the turn/stop fuse is blown and there is no lighter fuse. Medicine_Man Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 I think it is the wire on the bottom (Should be a yellow wire i think, Can't see in the picture). You don't need a test light to test it as it works on resistance. Just pull that wire off the sender and touch it to the block. Get someone to look at the gauge in the car and see if it climbs to max temperature. If it does you then know the gauge works and the wire to the gauge is fine too. You don't need to run the car at all to test it. Just find a second hand one from the wreckers and replace it.. The interior light fuse should be called "dome" on the fuse box diagram i think.. Quote
Palmy Posted December 21, 2007 Author Report Posted December 21, 2007 righto thanks, will give it another check up today. the fuse box inside down near the bonnet lever don't have a dome fuse in it. unless there may be another hiding fuse box i don't know of....? :lolcry: Quote

Palmy Posted December 21, 2007 Author Report Posted December 21, 2007 ok then, it would most likely be tail lights because they don't work when i brake, my parkers at the front come on when i brake lol. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 ok then, it would most likely be tail lights because they don't work when i brake, my parkers at the front come on when i brake lol. That usually happens when someone puts a single filament bulb in the brake light bulb holder.. (Should be twin filament for parkers/brake) Check your globes. Failing that the next most common cause of that happening is wires in a trailer plug letting go and touching each other.. Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted December 22, 2007 Report Posted December 22, 2007 I had a look today the interior light fuse on a late KE30 is marked lighter/ room pictured is the fuse half out. Quote
Palmy Posted December 23, 2007 Author Report Posted December 23, 2007 yeah my fuse box is jus a lil different http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...uy/IMGP0750.jpg and my brake/park light globes are double filament Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 (edited) yeah my fuse box is jus a lil different http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff30/ro...uy/IMGP0750.jpg and my brake/park light globes are double filament put a fuse in the lighter space and see what happens. If you are ever up my way I will have a look for you. Edited December 23, 2007 by KE30_KE35_KE55 Quote
