Trev Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 (edited) hey guys, Most of you know that i have had this for a few years now and all i have done to it was exhaust and servicing, I have been meaning to do a clutch swap since i got it but i just kept driving it with it slipping but the rego was due in september and i was wondering wether i would keep it registered or not as i don't get my licence back till Jan so i just let it run out and i was going to do a few things to it until the weekend just gone when i was working on the missus seca and decided to register that again and take the twinky off the road to do the followimg: - New clutch & pressure plate, Regrind the flywheel. - New clutch master and slave cylinder's. - Fit the extractors to finish off exhaust (gotta fix up the o2 sensor plate). - Fix oil leaks from engine altho I have been thinking of swapping with the engine from the van but I already know how hard my engine goes (thinking). - Redo the quick fix on the rust repairs. - Do something about the paint lookin like a marble, Could just need another good polish. - Finally fit the K&N panel filter and re-route the airsupply to the box but i might go with my initial plan and use a series 2 guard on the passenger side for that. - Install a battery box in the engine bay in the factory location. - Get the drivers side seat bottom refabricated as its broken. - Inspect noise in passenger side front strut assy. Thats all that i have looked at doing so far so i hope the list don't get any bigger, I do have a member ride thread with this car but its also of the other seca i have and this is going to be a small project. Few pics from today with the engine bay getting pulled apart: A few goodies: Edited February 18, 2009 by Trev Quote

Trev Posted November 28, 2007 Author Report Posted November 28, 2007 Did alot more this arvo, All that's left is the drivers side cv shaft and then undo the engine mounts and it will be out, I also noticed that my TVIS controller was broken off so all this time i havent had it and the car has hammered from take off and they reckon they are shit without it so I'm looking forward to that been connected, There is also a small hole in the bellhousing so hopefully i don't find too much wrong with it (now i wish i would of kept my C56), I will post some more pics up tomorrow. Trev Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 (edited) Did a bit of cleaning today including a polish comparison on the bonnet. It was just washed and dried, I then did the right hand side with polyglaze diamond finish but it needs a good cut: I Took my plain black cam covers from another engine and rubbed the lettering back to bare metal, Its just a quick look at what it will look like but once the cam covers have been cleaned back to bare and repainted with the lettering redone: Edited November 30, 2007 by Trev Quote
7shades Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 May I recommend 'Deox' for your bonnet... brilliant stuff. Cheap too. Quote
Trev Posted November 30, 2007 Author Report Posted November 30, 2007 Good work Trev. Thanks ole Desa May I recommend 'Deox' for your bonnet... brilliant stuff. Cheap too. Whats that stuff as i need to do the whole car? Quote
7shades Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Its just a polish... but its fantastic at restoring slightly 'abused' paint. Its a very mild cut and it works best with a rotary buff if you can get your hands on one. I use it for professional details on everything from Hiluxes to Beemers. Quote

Ok i will see if i can find some, My brother is a qualified panel beater and even works in a body shop, Do you think i ever get any body work done from him or do you think after asking him for the lsat 2 years to borrow a proper buff that i have got one yet, NO, I brought one of those orbital polishers a while back but they arent the best so i just use the good old faithful hand. Trev Posted December 2, 2007 Author Report Posted December 2, 2007 I got my electric hobby die drinder out today and cleaned up all the cooling system components and mounting surfaces with a wire wheel so they are now all nice and clean, I also found that the water pump housing has a corrosion hole where it sits on the block so i will see how good the other 2 are, Next step is to clean the head, block and sump and then paint the block and sump, Cam covers will follow.
