Des Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Ethanol eats away at some plastics, don't use it, Its rubbish. What model Corolla ? Quote
mikerolla Posted November 26, 2007 Author Report Posted November 26, 2007 1987 sedan cs or something Quote
Felix Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 How long since it has been serviced and tuned? Maybe try running premium in it. I've always found it gives better power and fuel consumption in older cars. Quote
Trev Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 4A's recommend a minimum of 97 octane, Can't remember if thats ron or mon. Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Sounds like a 4ac ae82. check plugs, check compression, check catalytic converter hasn't disintegrated or blocked the exhaust. Quote
sammo[RL] Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 i have a auto corolla and when i put my foot flat to floor it doesnt rev as hard as it used to Do you mean the auto doesn't kickdown? ie change down a gear? Because it should change down when you put your foot flat. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 Do you mean the auto doesn't kickdown? ie change down a gear? Because it should change down when you put your foot flat. The ethanol can slowly destroy the plastic float in some carbs, so be wary of it. Quote

Thats actually a good point, My initial read of his post i thought that it didnt like to free rev, When i first got my 4ac auto seca the kickdown cable was too far stretched so when i would go to take off it would only take off in second and be very slow and when you put your foot down it wouldnt kick down so it would just slowly speed up, I ended up just driving it like a manual for the 1st 2 days and then adjusted the cable now its all sweet. Murd 55 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 ethanol petrol works better in my car. lol. but most the time 95 octane costs more than its worth. unless u go to the independant and its cheaper  Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 Also watch out for the ethanol blend on freshly painted acrylic paint as it damages it Quote
