Sim Posted December 12, 2007 Author Report Posted December 12, 2007 stripped the motor down to a bare block today, gonna try take it to my engine builder either today or tommorow, even tho the motor is pretty damn small, its still got a fair bit of weight in it, couldn't lift it up myself to put it in the boot of my car lol. also a pic of the turbo that came off it, not sure exactly what it is, looks like the factory unit, gonna chuck it up for sale anyways as i don't need it. Taz_Rx Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Yeah mate thats the factory turbs. :P Yeah you look at a bare rota block and think "that won't way much",...but they're not that far off a solid chuck of metal for there size when you think about it!!! I reckon a bare 12a/13b block would probably weigh more than a k motor!!! :D Quote
Sim Posted December 12, 2007 Author Report Posted December 12, 2007 cool i thought so, just wasn't 100% sure. haha yeh they look pretty deceiving, theres bugger all too them though when u think about it! Quote
Sim Posted December 23, 2007 Author Report Posted December 23, 2007 got some new pics. went to check out the motor yesterday, looks ***en nuts now that its all painted up n rebuilt. my mate took pics during the rebuild process so i could see, so ill chuck afew up aswell showing the port etc. heres how it looks now n just some progress shots my mate took <- shows the bridge port gave all my bits i want chromed/polished to my mate, like the alternator, pulleys, inlet manifold etc so he can get it all done for me n then we'll bolt eveything back up, can't wait! changed my mind on the turbo aswell, the GT35/40 wuldn't have been suitable enough to run with a bridgy as it would'v ran out of puff too soon, changed to a TO4Z instead. heres the turbo Quote
benzo Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Looking good mate. any rotary KE2* is great in my books. Looks like it will be a good build. Ben Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Looking good mate. any rotary KE2* is great in my books. Looks like it will be a good build. Ben agreed :y: Like henry's old 13B EP KE20, i wonder what happened to that car.......... Quote
Jono Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 i just wish they were legal in NSW... Quote
paulie Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 looking good mate, Which brand of turbo is that.??. Please tell me it isnt one of those junk chinese cheapies... Quote
Jordan Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 TO4Z's are made by Garrett for themselves and for HKS. not sure what model that one is. In any event you must be looking for serious grunt to feel that the GT3582R (HKS GT3040R equilivent) is too small. Loveing the BP trurbo idea, as most jsut stick with a large extend portt. Bring it to Toyota Nationals in Dubbo over easter :y: Cheers Jordan Quote
Sim Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 (edited) thanks for the comments guys, n yeh its a genuine garrett, i would never trust one of those dodgy cheap asian variants. yeh the front housing has been altered to resemble the HKS version moreso. the holes in the front are meant to allow it to spool up faster or whatever they reckon lol. n yeh iv always wanted a bridgy, whether it be a rough as guts oldskool webber type or injected turbo. i just love the brap lol. ordered plates for it last week, just got them in the mail today, can't wait to chuck em on now lol Edited December 24, 2007 by Sim Quote
Tally Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 Far out man great work!!! Love the plates!!! Hey man could you grab some pics of the engine bay? I'm interested in how the mounts were done. Cheers Tally Quote
Sim Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 thanks man. yeh no worries, i won't be going over to c the car until after christmas but ill get sum pics for u then. Quote
benzo Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 agreed :y: Like henry's old 13B EP KE20, i wonder what happened to that car.......... What was funny about what I said? ;) lol Henrys car was parted out as he couldn't sell it. Pity because if he had've kept it for another couple of months I would've bought it to save myself a shit load of work. I've got the custom extractors and exhaust from Henrys car. Got it up for sale as I decided if I was going to go ahead with the rotor conversion I wanted a better base, as mine isnt quite straight enough, but may just be keeping the set-up as I have found an absolute overrated KE20 which I will be putting a 13BBP in. Hey Sim could you also please send me the pics of the mounts etc if you don't mind, PM me when you got the pics. Cheers, Ben. Quote

Sim Posted December 28, 2007 Author Report Posted December 28, 2007 thanks for the comments. I'm still unsure as to what to do with the front struts . I'm not doing much to the rear, just gonna replace the shockers n replace the bushes on the leaves etc. but i dunno the best way to upgrade the front struts. I'm gonna be using a Hoppers Stoppers brake upgrade, being VZ twin piston brakes. just confused on what would be the best option and how to go about it :bash:. can anyone offer any assistance? Quote
