JiP Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Well today was a big day. Went to pick up parts for Tabitha from Ipswich wreckers hoping they hadn't crushed the 25 there. Good news, they hadn't. With the risk that they crush this puppy soon, I took alot of the good parts. CHEAP TOO  The steering wheel. These are really good, So again I took them as spares. I took these cause mine are a bit faded. I had to take this cause its chrome. May end up in Lolla  Hubcaps found in the donor KE25. NOTE I only have 2 so anyone with spares PLEASE contact me. Lastly It had a Toyoglide in it. I was really unsure about this as the car looked shit. They quoted $50 as they never got to test it when it came in. (Its been there for a while) The once I started pilling parts off it I noticed how clean it was. Now in pretty confinent that she is good. When they asked me what I was quoted I said $40, so again even CHEAPER. Quote
JiP Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Okay, back to the steering wheel. I did a bit of a clean up like I did on Tabitha's one. Before the Before Before After. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Every good mechanic will tell you that the cleanliness of the outside of components is directly related to how good they are internally...Good spotting  Throw the dirty auto away and put a 5 speed in it dude... Quote
PHATKE20S Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Hubcaps found in the donor KE25. NOTE I only have 2 so anyone with spares PLEASE contact me. I have 2   Quote
Des Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Change the filter and pan gasket on that box when you put it in, See how much metal is stuck to the magnet in the pan. If the pan doesn't have a magnet put one in. Quote
JiP Posted January 23, 2008 Author Report Posted January 23, 2008 Okay, me and Trev spent a good 14/15 hours working on Tabitha yesterday to get her going again. So Old Toyoglide out, NEW Toyoglide in. I also bout two matching hubcaps off Phatke20s. All the hubcaps didn't look too great, but wait till you see them now!! Testing the plates. Trev cleaned up the hubcaps and WOW Degreased the engine. Shot of the back end. We're done and about to do a test run!! Pumping the tires up at the servo. Taking photos at the Pub car park. Quote
JiP Posted January 23, 2008 Author Report Posted January 23, 2008 She needs a wash... I did my best to keep my black fingers off her panels. Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Nice work. Looks Sweet. What did you use to clean the hub caps? They came up a treat. Quote
Trev Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Nice work. Looks Sweet. What did you use to clean the hub caps? They came up a treat. My hand  Nah i first used my hobby die grinder with a small wire wheel to remove all the grot from the hard to reach places and gave them a wash, I then went over them with some cleaners that are kinda like steel wool and scrubbed them up and finished them off with some metal polish, I have only really finished one as i gave the other 3 a quick clean, I will post some pics soon. Jon and I both commented how god damn smooth this thing runs, It has a great amount of pickup aswell, The only thing wrong with the drive system is the rear uni on the tailshaft. Quote

Trev Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 (edited) It looks the same as when u got it but with hubcaps...am I missing something? Exactly right, Hubcaps, A transmission change and a general cleanup and its a nice driver, Hard to believe someone sent it to the wreckers. Edited January 23, 2008 by Trev Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Because people are too f@$kin lazy to take out a simple ad in a newspaper and let someone who actually WANTS the car to come and give them cash for it... Quote
