azza91 Posted June 26, 2012 Report Posted June 26, 2012 nice build, beautiful car and great power bud. you should be very happy with the result Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted June 27, 2012 Author Report Posted June 27, 2012 cheers mate, car isnt as good looking as the pictures suggest, it has a 20 foot paint job (looks good from 20 feet away), as for power its nice to have it on tap when need it, and the car is generally mild mannered until you sink the boot in. this setup has potential for more with a few more tweaks, which include changing the turbo dump/external waste gate piping, increasing boost from 12psi to 16psi and eventually running E85. Which should net me some where in the range of 160 - 180kw at the wheels. Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted July 23, 2012 Author Report Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) this will be heading back into the shop for some more tweaks in the coming weeks. this time for the a new turbo dump and waste gate piping, swap over a couple of fittings on the waste gate, get the tacho working, some more tweaks to the cold start tune/recheck after new dump, and hopefully what will be the final boost increase to around 14 to 16psi if it makes 160 atw, it will make for a quick car street car and i will be extremely happy as it and unopened gze motor with relatively unknown kms on it Edited July 23, 2012 by MYSTIK Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted August 6, 2012 Author Report Posted August 6, 2012 clear timing belt cover  not bad 8 days from japan :rocknroll: Quote
carbonboy Posted August 6, 2012 Report Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Winning! Zak Lee? Keeping a close eye on this thread now. Loving the plans by the by. ;) Edited August 6, 2012 by carbonboy Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted August 6, 2012 Author Report Posted August 6, 2012 yep zaklee. little bit more expensive but i didnt mind hopefully should have the car back by friday at the latest, with new dump, retune and hopefully a working tacho (by doing a switching relay mod, plus changing the pulse coming from the ecu to suit the relay means in theory a pulse the tacho can read) Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted August 9, 2012 Author Report Posted August 9, 2012 the good and the bad news. good news: i have a tach that works again bad news: not making 160kw atw good news: because of the new dump pipe, its comes on boost earlier, with much more of a punch bad news: not making 160kw atw eh so not making a 160 kw atw I'm fine with, because the original plan with the car was to make 150kw atw. well it basically makes that now on a steady 14psi, (read 148kw atw @ 6200 rpm). low and mid range now has much more punch, which are due to the tweaks in the map and the new dump pipe. so I'm pretty sure i now have the mechanical side of the car now sorted, except i might just tinker with the suspension setup. now i can focus on finding those few parts i want from japan, like the fx-gt mirrors, sprinter headlights with factory fog lights, set of front guards with the corner markers and getting the rota slipstreams fitted and getting a set of enkei rfp1 for track work or vice versa, its not set in stone yet. carbonboy Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Zaklee's are worth it, they have the brass inserts for threads rather than the threads being tapped into the plastic. Handy if you're pulling them off occasionally. Great work on getting the tachometer to function & your final output, especially on a ??? condition engine! That's exactly what I'm looking for right there, please forgive me if it will appear that I've copied everything you've done. :laff: Good luck with your parts chasing! :y: Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted August 10, 2012 Author Report Posted August 10, 2012 that fine i don't mind you copying what i have done, it will be different as its going into a ae82. But i recommend going with a coil on plug ignition setup, as it looks a lot neater and you can use a toyota coil on plug from the 1nzfe :y: Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted November 10, 2012 Author Report Posted November 10, 2012 (edited) minor update on parts finding, new deep dish steering wheel installed ---> momo one will be cleaned up/leather fixed and stored for later use ;) door handles from a corolla GT/Sprinter with a chrome stripping on the way (bling factor only) have the front markers and associated wiring to make them work (hopefully) last pieces i need are, headlights with in built foglights + grill to suit (have 2 or 3 lead but time will tell) GT/FXGT/Sprinter etc etc etc mirrors (as above) cup holders from a japanese/euro spec car (don't tell me about the one on ebay i know about them and I'm not paying $99) levin seats or full interior from a japanese model preferably in blue or maybe maroon just to be different. still minor niggling issues with the TPS causing random stalling, also needs the injector dwell/dead timing adjusted to stop the hunting idle when 2 or more accessories are tuned on, when the car is cold. MYSTIK[RL] Posted January 7, 2013 Author Report Posted January 7, 2013 (edited) crappy phone shots of the fitment of the rotas might be also swapping the rota's in the near future, for something english made of a similar size and offset. will just depend on price and shipping.
