mikerolla Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 I'm not quite sure which topic its suppose to go under.. I was driving my KE30 in the rain and i hit the gutter at approx 50kms this pushed the engine and gearbox over also pushing my wheel in. the frame for it has been bent and i was wondering how much this would cost me. Also i need new shock and who knows what else havent had a proper look at it. the fans hits whewn the engine is started too. anyone have a rough idea how much a KE30 corolla frame from the wreckers would cost me? Or anyone have any other ideas? Quote
mikerolla Posted November 7, 2007 Author Report Posted November 7, 2007 Or how much it would be to get the frame fixed? an estimate to put on the frame fixing machine? Quote

mikerolla Posted November 7, 2007 Author Report Posted November 7, 2007 Thanks so it would be better to get an old KE30 4dr and take that frame and put it on the body? would a 2dr frame fit a 4dr frame? no? Quote

What is it thats bent, a shocker or tower or is the chassis rail rusty near the steering box or is the chassis bent. or do you just have a broken engine mount? dookie Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 how good is your rolla? does it have a custom paintjob or anything special? if not....wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to buy a rolling shell, and put ur running gear in that? Quote
mikerolla Posted November 8, 2007 Author Report Posted November 8, 2007 Yes most likely be cheaper the body and interior on it is in Great cond. its just a bent chassis or something and shocks. Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 isnt a bent chassis a write-off? Not necessarily they can be straightened. Quote
mikerolla Posted November 8, 2007 Author Report Posted November 8, 2007 Is there any cheap way to fix a front bent chassis? Quote

mikerolla Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 any other ideas? or an actual estimate of straightening the front of the chassis? Quote
Rollaboy2608 Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 any other ideas? or an actual estimate of straightening the front of the chassis? You don't just straighten the front of the chassis. The whole car gets placed on a jig and then it can be straightened, but not always. If it is too far gone they just throw it away. Also if it isnt done right, the car will forever crab around corners. I have a mate who is a panelbeater, and he told me that most cars are never the same once the chassis has been bent. The body on a KE30 corolla is not removable from the chassis, so you need to go and buy a rolling shell. Straightening the chassis will set you back at least 2 grand plus all the other parts you obviously need repaired like suspension, and by the sounds of it, your front crossmember Quote
