raff_gsr Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 hey guys just wondering how i would go about popping twin carbs onto a 5k motor? my dad is going to give me two sidedraught weber 40s from his alfa as he is upgrading to 45s, but would this be overkill for a 5k? the 5k i hope to run will be modded with a mild/wild cam, 4age pistons + decked block and high compession head, along with extractors. i know I would have to make/source a new inlet manifold but will she still fit with the engine slanted or do i have to straighten her up? cheers everyone in advance! kangaroosa Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Are they overkill? Nope Will they fit in the engine bay with the slanted engine? Yep Redline Hardimans sell inlet manifolds to suit. Their about $200ish. Linkage kits are $100+. I even had ram tubes and socks on the carbs in my KE30. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 never too big if you get the right sized chokes. Quote
corolla_bitten Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 (edited) i got a pretty much standard 4k with twin 40's off a alfa (solex's) with 34mm chokes and she runs sweet. a bit thirsty though hahaha, 40l get 275k's, go global warming Edited November 7, 2007 by corolla_bitten Quote
FIL Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 you'll probably need to 'massage' the strut tower a little, depending on the air cleaners and manifold you end up using, but they certainly do fit, and they're not overkill for a half decent 5k... plus they sound awesome... Quote
