KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Slapper I think you're confusing the gear engagement (syncro/dog) with the gears themselves. The two gears are actually never become disconnected. They are always meshing even if that gear isn't being used. The syncro or dog locks that gear to the shaft thus Except reverse where a idler is used, you can often find straight cut 1st and reverse gears in older gearbox's they really make a racket but they are strong, some of the older cars heading to-wards 2000kg needed strong low gears. I have also rebuilt the ultimate truck road-ranger transmissions with twin counter shafts, hunting gear-sets, if you don't assemble them correct they explode. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Actaully I've got a K40 in bits I can take some pics of if people want to know how gearboxs actually work!? Quote
