decoop Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Hi all. Firstly, my missus has been complaining that the brake pedal on her 71 sometimes goes almost to the floor then the next time its nice and firm, any ideas?. Secondly, the auto in this thing nearly takes your head off when it changes into second gear. Is this normal? it would be ok if it was worked but it is dead stock. :) Any ideas would be appreciated. shooter Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 what about fluids? my mates old sklyline did the same thing with the auto, itd stick then snap into gear, we topped up his fluids and it was a bit better Quote
phife Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Brake master cylinder probably needs new seals. Have the same thing in my KE10. Check the tranny fluid level, most likely it needs a top up of fluid or just replace all the fluid. Quote
decoop Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 I replaced the fluids in the auto less than 3 months ago and it was still doing it. I'd say its just rooted. I will send it to a brake specialist to get checked out i guess. Quote
Rollaboy2608 Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 (edited) eventually, transmissions wear out, its just life. Sometimes a band adjustment can help, or it may just need a new valve body. As for your brakes, if you block off all your lines at each wheel with a set of clamps, and the pedal still goes to the floor(with fluid topped up) then the master is most likely done for. If not, remove a clamp from one corner(brake line) and pump the pedal. note any loss of pressure. Repeat on all the other lines. Then replace the clamp, and you should be able to find out where your loss of pressure is coming from. Edited November 6, 2007 by Rollaboy2608 Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 My mate had a similar problem with his brakes on his ra40. It ended up being tiny holes all through his brake lines. He originally didnt know what was up so he took it to the brake specialist and they checked it out. So that would be your best bet. Good luck with it mate Quote
decoop Posted November 6, 2007 Author Report Posted November 6, 2007 Thanks guys, appreciate your input. I'm gunna have to source another gearbox i guess, as for the brakes ill send it to a brake specialist as previously stated. cheers. Quote
