dookie Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 kangaroosa is putting a 12a in his ke30, so he might be able to help you out Quote
kangaroosa Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Kangaroosa cbf with fabrication so he is paying a workshop to make the mounts for him. :) They are flat out, so the earliest i can get in is early next year. Needless to say they are doing things from scratch. They want the car and the engine delivered. They will drop the engine in, draw up what they want in the way of mounts and get them laser cut. Apparently it will be cheaper and quicker than taking existing mounts, then chopping and welding them to suit. If you don't care about it being legal, then go for the 13B. Its kinda like dropping a 3K in when you have the opportunity to drop a 5K in. If your from Melbourne, you could get a second Hilux diff jigged up for me.... I scoured the wreckers yesterday for an R31 diff to find they have all been pilfered. Quote
ca18rolla Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 A real early model hilux diff is the go like Rn10-13 there are the right width and you can put either the 4x4 stock lsd or go the route i have and put a detroit true-trac or similar in. To get the brackets weld on for the spring was like $150 and $20 for the brackets for the brake hoses. Good luck finding a early hilux though all the rotor boys have stolen most of them already! rotola Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 thanks guys i know the lux diffs are getting sort after but iv gottn hold of one about 12m ago knowing i was going to end up doing a 55... i most likely will go with the 13bbp there also alot better down low and thu mid range.. and being a light car I'm verry tempted to put 90/10s in the front and 50/50s in the back this my frens = big front wheel lift if you have the right tyres eg. M/T streets atleast and enough pwr to get them turning. anyway I'm going on about something that can't be done unless some one can help me out...... just want to know if there are mounts you can buy from a fabrecater or some thing like that.... thanks anthony Quote

rotola Posted November 6, 2007 Author Report Posted November 6, 2007 yeah iv found out what i have to do now iv got to bolt the box up see if the motor clears the xmember if not cut and raise the tunnel till it does weld tunnel back to the car. the engine has a 12a timming case on it so the mounts are at the front of the motor. i have to measure from the mount on the motor to the mounting place on the car were ever that mabe. weld brackets/ mounts bolt them up. get a tailshaft made to suit then get it tuned take it home pull it all out and clean it up grind welds, paint it up ect, ect, put it back in carefuly and your done sounds easy but verry time consuming doesnt cost that much as ill be doing most of the work........ i can put up before during and after shots up if you guys want and ill do a step by step with photos on how to do it as well id like to see more rota rollas on the road....... thanks Quote
kangaroosa Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 (edited) Just to give you an idea of what the workshop quoted me for them to do all the work...... Fit engine and gearbox (make custom mounts etc) A few hundred dollars....$300-400 Custom Tailshaft $300-400 Custom Extractors / Modify the existing ones $not discussed Theres a heap of other things i will get them to do whilst they have the car. I have neither the welding skills, hours in the day nor mechanical patience for this kind of fabrication work. Hence i would rather shell out a few grand for the peace of mind that its done correctly. (not saying you wont do it properly - its purely aimed at me) Other works include: Triangulated Strut brace to the firewall Possible plating of the chassis Hilux/R31 Diff Upgrade Brake upgrade to be done by me (currently underway) Obviously the more work that i give them, the cheaper the whole project will be. Rather than them slugging me full price for 1 or 2 mods, they have done me a good deal on the whole scope of works. The final engineers certificate was quoted at around $600-$700 on completion. GV Automotive The workshop that will be doing the work.^ Edited November 9, 2007 by kangaroosa Quote
