26rolla Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 I have a set of 15"s for my ke20, they are simmons. 15x7 don't know the exact offset, were also on a mazda r100 and rx4 The front ones do not fit because the lip around the dustcap on the hub does not fit inside the back of the simmon. I can get them 3/4 onto the studs. It is out by 1-2mm, I found this I found these http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_2242/article.html Has anyone dealt with this before? Any solutions? Is it possible to machine down the lip on my hub to match the wheel or is that not advised? Any other easy hubs I can fit that may fit these? Also, if these wheels are hubcentric and are meant to be supported by the hub and not by lug nuts which other wheels are, isn't it bad to put these rims on the back which features drum brakes? Because then there is no support for the wheel and you are practically putting all the rear end weight on the studs.. Or am I wrong? Any help appreciated. Quote
Jono Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 my car is a bit dodge and is supported by the studs. i wouldn't take my car to the race track... Quote
coln72 Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Used to grind a bees dick out of the back of my rims but they were not simmons. Quote
styler Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 read the faq to see the mazda spigot was a touch smaller than corollas and can be ground or machined out. it wont affect the wheel strength and specialized wheel shops can do it for you, eg probably race engineering brisbane. most mag wheels have oversize spigot holes and you get the rings to fill the gap so they fit any spigot but some factory wheels and mags have a specific smaller spigot size to suit an exact model of car which makes it a pain as you have found out. also as a note there are many sizes of rings to suit most applications, rings arent too expensive eg $30 for 4 or something. all drum brakes should have the hub locating section sticking out, although one of my diffs doesnt and i suspect thicker drums may have caused this not sure. Hey mate I started this thread under a mates account, thanks for the advice, I think I will take my front hubs off and get them machined on a lathe to fit the simmons. Quote
