I have a Ke20 corolla, with drum brakes all round. Atm, the only thing stopping me from driving my peanut around are the brakes. They are in need of reconditioning If I am to be driving the car with the standard setup, with new shoes and Drum machining needed to make this shitty brake setup work, trouble is, I'm no way near prepared to pay the $600-$1000 I have been quoted for all round reconditioning, which I think is ridiculous!

I am wanting an alternative people. I have been told that the Ke55 braking system is a bolt on job to my corolla, enabling Disc at the front and drum on the back. If this is true, this would be a nice cheap option/upgrade that would surely do the job. It would also change my stud pattern to the more common 114.3 and not the 110 the Ke20's have.

Can anyone confirm this at all, or whats needed to make it possible? Also is it just a matter of bolting on the entire drum system from the Ke55 onto my Ke20, or will i need to change the entire diff, as I obviously do not want a different stud pattern on the front compared to the back.

All help greatly appreciated! I need to get her moving and this is the only thing stopping me.

Knowledge Base/FAQ should help you out heaps - http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...ont_Disc_Brakes

Ive talked a few times on the forum about my KE70 brake upgrade on my KE20. Have a search, I don't have time to try and find it just at the moment sorry.

Basically just substitute KE20 hubs for KE30/55/70 hubs if you want 4x114.3 stud pattern. Diff is a bit more difficult. I welded KE20 mounts on a KE30 diff. Track was a bit wider but it fit OK on a KE20. KE30 axles into a KE20 diff doesn't work correctly unless you shorten the axles.
