kangaroosa Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 (edited) don't locksmiths have the ability to cut you a new key if you take the ingition/lock barrel to them......or call a mobile locksmith out to you. Edited October 30, 2007 by kangaroosa Quote
7shades Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Take off your door trim, there's a little number on the arm that comes out from the back of the lock barrel. Take that to a locksmith they'll be able to whip up a new one for a few bucks. Quote
lukorolla Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 If you take out the drivers door lock, there should be code stamped on it. Call up a lock smith shop and read them the code and they will be able to cut you a key. It cost about $25, and the time spent pulling the door apart to unclip the lock. Quote
choonga Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 hehe.. i posted this in a few other forums and you have all said the same thing! lucky i asked! i was freaking out and thought i was doomed! thanks all! i had no idea that i could get a new key cut! THANKS! Quote
andro0o Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 i started experimenting one day as i have a spare key of every single car ive owned... and it seems that ther sprinter keys seem to work... so just go cut somene elses lol Quote
anastasios Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 haha very true, its funny opening random corollas up and leaving the doors open and then imagine what the owner thinks later Quote
dfunkt Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 ahh, so many hi-jinks me and my mates got up to with each others cars, all ke70s. opening them up and leaving notes... turning them around to face the other way in their driveway...swapping them in general, as they were the same color and model...ahh the fun times :D Quote
tas_ae71 Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) just get any long type toyota key and it will more than likely fit, especially the ignition, almost all keys are interchangeable due to them holes being slopped out, so far the keys i have tried in my mates t-18 that have worked are, sprinter, ae71 another random long type key and my soarer keys which i have 2 different ones. lol. my ae71 was also the same, massively slopped out.. But yes you can get new keys cut without a problem. It would pay to find the toher keys though, not a good thing having spare keys to your car laying around. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 When I locked my keys in the KE55 a few weeks ago, found out that the key from a SV21 Camry fits just fine......lucky the guy was parked next to me and about to leave too :P Quote
h1_roll4 Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 bluebird keys worked on both my ke70s. same with a torana key haha Quote
