7shades Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Howdy kids... Just ripped the engine out of one of my growing fleet of KE70s, and it appears to be a 4K-U. Never noticed before... I've read the FAQ and gleaned a bit of info on the differences between it and a 4K-C, but I'm looking for a bit more detail. Are they particularly rare? Should I keep it and build it up? Cheers Quote
Xany Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 From what i've heard they are rare in Aus. In NZ you can find them pretty easily though..... Quote
Teddy Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 PLEASE !!! PLEASSSSSSSEEEEEEEE Sell me the pushrods lol..... i am DESPERATE. From what i know, they are a 4k thats got heavier emitions stuff on them, or had on them, or was ment to from japan. I think they make a little Less power than the standard Ke70 4kc's we got here. Trev Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Its a japanese emission based engine, They are supposed to have 74HP @ 5600rpm and 78lb ft of torque @ 3600rpm. Quote

lappy Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 I had a electronic dizzy from one so that will be worth keeping if it has one Quote
7shades Posted October 23, 2007 Author Report Posted October 23, 2007 Yeah its got the little 'warning use extra long sparking plug' sticker on it. Doesn't have the electric dizzy but I think that may have been swapped. Doesn't really surprise me that it's the dished piston engine, the damn thing hammers more than any other K I've driven... I swapped the nikki for a weber, chucked some headers on and it just sings all the way to 9 grand... Quote
Felix Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 I agree, I've found that the dished piston 4k's go a lot harder than normal 4k's as well. Probably came into australia through a jap engine importers at some stage. Quote
DearmanKE Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 9 k!!!!! shizz my 5k gets valve bounce at bout 6.3 is this bad? or is that just coz of hydrolic lifters and such? Quote
sammo[RL] Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Yeah its got the little 'warning use extra long sparking plug' sticker on it. Doesn't have the electric dizzy but I think that may have been swapped. This sounds a lot like the engine thats in my ke35 at the mo. But mine has next to no emissiions stuff on it at all. mines got a bosch dizzy, but i'm struggling to find the right rotor and cap. seams different to the standard bosch dizzy. I've read the FAQ and gleaned a bit of info on the differences between it and a 4K-C, but I'm looking for a bit more detail. Are they particularly rare? Should I keep it and build it up? Ditto Quote
Felix Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 mines got a bosch dizzy, but i'm struggling to find the right rotor and cap. seams different to the standard bosch dizzy. Has it got the cap which is smaller in diameter at the top than at the base? If so just replace the button and cap with the more normal wider one. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 HAHHAA I bags the push rods when you kill this motor :) Quote
tas_ae71 Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 well if its really a monster as the claims are, i say reco it and keep it. new bearings/rings and a little head work (cam, port & polish). Quote
