beerhead Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 To make a 16V make top end power like a 20V, and that beautiful bark of open quad's you need cams - $700, valve springs $200, re-shim $300, quad adapter plate $250, quads $200, porting $up to you. Geez you've just spent more than the cost of a blacktop :D I've been in some car's running 16 valves that go like the clappers, but the 20V does it out of the box. I think bad tuners have given them a name. Quote

Must have a motec :) Oops I forgot shim under bucket conversion $800 :) Yeah factory cams mate, they seem to work fairly well, I'm running Autronic SMC, my mate who tunes the engine is a Autronic distributor and gave me a great deal. The motor is actually fairly tired the comps were around 150psi when they should be around 190. Hopefully going to go a 7age with the BT head and quads a few IP guys are getting very good HP with this combo Quote

greenmac80 Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Worth waiting for! Hey did you buy one? i really want to know if i'm still going to have to mod the water pump? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted April 23, 2008 Author Report Posted April 23, 2008 Hey did you buy one? i really want to know if i'm still going to have to mod the water pump? Their system puts the thermostat pretty much where a 4ac has it, and has no bypass. I prefer it, and use it in my car. The back of the waterpump goes directly into the bottom radiator hose, and the thermostat fitting pictured which points forward, joins to the head where the waterpump used to. I just try not to rev it past 4000 until the thermostat is open. You block off the heater port on the back of the head behind the extractors and either modify the existing thermostat housing at the rear or I think the kit might have the right fitting from Yager. Not sure, I have a modded standard one. Quote
Kid-Ae Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Believe you can pick up the thermostat housings cheap that are a direct bolt on without any interference, had one in at work the other week and it had been done in this way. LittleRedSpirit, it should comfortably take 4000rpm while the thermostat is getting up to temp, may run a slight bit warmer for a few minutes but as long as the plumbing is fine and your thermostat hasnt perished, all should be right as rein to pull high revs off a cold start :hmm: Quote
