Clutch Slave Cylinder

When i took the car somewhere regarding another problem he said this needed to be replaced. He also said it is cheap to replace.

1. What does it do.

2. can i drive the car whilst it needs replacing

3. how expensive to replace

4 and how hard is it to replace (could someone with a reasonable car knowledge replace it)

When you push the clutch pedal down it push's a rod inside a cylinder which forces the fluid in you clutch slave cylinder to move and push on the lever to disengage your clutch.

 

Relatively cheap to replace new and any one with half a brain can do it.
