toyota_ae71 Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 gday, ok well for starters its a 4k 1984 ke70 and ill drive it turn it off for like 10minutes , then start her up again and when the accelerator gets to a certain point it gets this whinin sound that you can only hear from inside the car!! Has anyone had/ or has the same problem?? Quote
tas_ae71 Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 (edited) is it the diff or box? this wouldn't be effected by driving for 10mins but it is uncommon to find older toyotas with silent diffs.. my diff howls like a dog... if its not these 2 with it doesn't sound like them, its probaly an air leak in the manifold/carb Edited September 27, 2007 by tas_ae71 Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 need more information, Does the car have to be driving for this noise to be herd? Does this noise get worse at speed, Does this noise go away after a while ? Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted September 28, 2007 Author Report Posted September 28, 2007 nah its not the gearbox or diff or the manifold, its sounds like an electrical type of whine, like wen u go under certain power lines they buzz it sorta sounds like that! and its only wen u just put the accelorator down then ya put it through the floor and its alrite, but its really annoying, but i can't hear it asmuch now i got a zorst! Do you have an amp? Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Every time you step on the gas do you hear a loud high pitch hum or buzzing sound coming out of your speakers? Chances are its caused by a ground loop. This is when the amplifier and radio are getting their grounds in 2 different locations and back feeding. Engine noise can also be caused by coil or alternators. simply fit a $5 suppressor on both the alternator and the coil. Quote
dookie Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 if u have an amp......make sure ur not running the power cable and the rca's on the same side of the car! Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted September 29, 2007 Author Report Posted September 29, 2007 well the radio isnt even hooked up coz the power that went to my radio is now goin to my tacho Quote
ke70dave Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 sure its not just something loose in the engine bay? the top of my air filter was loose for a while (ke70 4k) and it resonated like crazy at about 3500 rpm, took me a while to work out what it was, but just had to tighten it up.
